Grant funds approved for Danville Area Community Center HVAC replacement

DANVILLE — Montour County has been approved to receive Local Share Account grant funds on behalf of the Danville Area Community Center, according to Montour County Commissioner Rebecca Dressler. The $200,000 in grant funds will go toward an HVAC replacement project at the community center. Bids for the project will open on March 21, according to county documents. The Montour County Board of Commissioners will approve a bid at their next regularly scheduled meeting on March 25. — ANNA WIEST

Danville Area Community Center relaunches capital campaign

DANVILLE — The Danville Area Community Center has entered the next phase of its Embracing Our Legacy, Growing for the Future Capital Campaign and is attempting to raise the final $175,000 of its $1.5-million goal. The campaign has already raised $1.3 million which will fund facility improvements and programming expansions, according to a community center press release. The center's relaunch will lead into Raise the Region, a 30-hour online giving event hosted by the First Community Foundation Partnership on March 12 and 13, the press release said. Community center officials said they are counting on this community-wide fundraiser to boost their campaign efforts. 'We're so close to completing this incredible effort,' said Heather Laubach, DACC chief operating officer. 'The community has been amazing, and we're excited to see this final stretch come together. Every gift — large or small — makes a real difference in shaping the future of the DACC.' Donors can contribute by signing a pledge card outlining a planned contribution over one or two years. Pledges can be made online at One-time donations can be made during Raise the Region, with the added bonus of a chance to win a portion of the event's hundreds of thousands of dollars in stretch funds and prize money, according to the community center.
