Pictures: People arrive in huge numbers in support of national charity march

DOZENS of people turned out to support the Colchester leg of a national initiative to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The Colchester leg saw many go from the U's JobServe Community Stadium as they made the 16-mile trip to Portman Road. Raising funds for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, various ex-pros came out to show their support for the cause. Determined - former U's and Ipswich player Freddie Sears (Image: STEVE BRADING) En route - supporters of the cause set off for the finish line (Image: STEVE BRADING) He said: 'The focal point was yes, it's a wonderful cause but it was also remembering our friend Adrian Webster. Arriving - former pros Freddie Sears (left middle) and Matt Holland (right) (Image: STEVE BRADING) 'I only got the chance to speak with Marcus on the way to the stadium, I haven't seen him for a number of years and it was lovely to see him. 'He's a smashing lad and he was a great footballer, so to be able to support him and the cause was great. 'All the various other big hitters have their reasons for taking part and we all know someone or been in contact with someone suffering. 'Hopefully one day they will find some way of curing it cause it is a terrible illness and one of the worst I've seen. 'I was glad to be a part of it and I'll continue to support the cause.'
