Lili Taylor Confirms Governor Role in DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2, Teases Themes of Power and Authoritarianism — GeekTyrant
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is starting to sound like a full-blown political thriller, and actor Lili Taylor just dropped some interesting details about her new role and the larger story at play. Speaking with Rural Intelligence about her new book Turning to Birds: The Power and Beauty of Noticing , Taylor casually confirmed her role in the series, saying: 'I'm the Governor, which is great.' That lines up with speculation from Season 1's finale, where Commissioner Gallo tried (and failed) to reach New York's Governor after Mayor Wilson Fisk declared martial law. If you watched the series, then you know why that call didn't go through. Taylor elaborated on the production, saying: 'I know Albany, and I know the politics there. We've got a set for inside, and then we did the outside at this really nice place in Tarrytown—that was the governor's house.' Taylor went on to describesthe tone of the show under showrunner Dario Scardapane, saying: 'It's a TV show in New York. The locations are very familiar to me. More importantly, the people I'm working with—Dario [Scardapane] the creator, the producer Sana [Amanat], and Vince D'Onofrio—really care about what they're making. So it doesn't feel like this big corporate thing. It feels like we're telling a story that matters.' With Kingpin pushing New York toward an authoritarian regime and unleashing his Anti-Vigilante Task Force, it makes sense that the Governor would emerge as a key player. Taylor didn't go into plot specifics, but she hinted at the show's deeper themes: 'They're creating something meaningful. And the show's dealing with a lot of topical stuff—power, authoritarianism.' So while Daredevil might not be arguing in court this time around, the battle looks like it's heading straight into the halls of government. The question now is, how far will Fisk go to keep his grip on the city and can Taylor's Governor push back before New York fully becomes his personal kingdom?

Charlie Cox Teases DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2, Saying It Has 'Some of the Best Writing' Yet — GeekTyrant
If you've been excited about the return of Daredevil: Born Again with Season 2 and what it will bring, Charlie Cox is teasing what's coming and hyping it up to the extreme, but he's trying very hard not to jinx it. 'I don't want to oversell it,' Cox told The Playlist, already knowing he might be doing just that. 'I do happen to think it's some of the best writing we've ever had on this show.' Cox isn't just hyping for the sake of press. He recently texted showrunner Dario Scardapane, who took over after Marvel hit the reset button mid-production, and gave him a personal nod of approval. It reads: 'Obviously we're still halfway through shooting it, but huge, huge credit to what you've pieced together here.' The original plan for Born Again was quite different. It started out as an 18-episode legal procedural, with Matt Murdock spending more time in court than in costume. A few episodes were even shot before Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige stepped in, scrapped the initial approach, and rebuilt the series into something closer to what fans loved. The result is two tighter, nine-episode seasons that will be packed more grit and ensemble depth. Scardapane, who returns to steer Season 2, is expanding the world around Matt. 'He's fleshed out characters that in the previous iteration of the show often get left behind,' Cox said. 'So, it feels much more like an ensemble than it's ever felt.' There's a good chance that Season 2 of the series will be even better than Season 1. Cox may not want to 'oversell it,' but his comments are sure to get fans excited about what's in store.

Charlie Cox singles out his least favorite Daredevil: Born Again episode
Daredevil: Born Again season 1 was largely reconceived after the 2023 actor and writer strikes. Dario Scardapane — a veteran of The Punisher series on Netflix — was brought in to be the new showrunner and he made a lot of changes to the series that were well-received. However, there's one episode that Scardapane didn't really change at all, and it happens to be the least favorite episode of Daredevil: Born Again's leading man, Charlie Cox. During an appearance on The Playlist, Cox noted that he wasn't very fond of the season's fifth episode, 'With Interest,' which was a largely standalone episode that featured his character, Matt Murdock, in a bank during a hostage crisis. Recommended Videos 'I [don't know] if this is of interest, but I will say this amongst all of this, there was one episode we didn't change at all,' said Cox. 'It's the episode in the bank, and that was part of the original [shoot]. We shot that before the strike. That was part of the original [draft], and just for my money, I wasn't into it.' Cox went on to reveal that it was his 'least favorite' episode and added that he 'pushed back against it as much as I felt was possible.' Regardless, Cox was surprised to learn that some fans loved the episode, and someone Disney+ apparently told him it did really well. 'I really pushed back on the episode, and yet I hear from so many people that they love that episode,' recalls Cox. 'So, it just goes to show you just don't know. It's so subjective. Everyone's taste is different. And I've heard that that episode is one of the highest-rated. Internally, when they do their ratings, it's one of the highest-rated Disney shows that they've had.' Cox confirmed that season 2 began production earlier this year. Matthew Lillard recently joined the cast of the series in a currently undisclosed role. Daredevil: Born Again season 2is expected to premiere on Disney+ in spring 2026. Please enable Javascript to view this content
