22-year-old woman killed in crash near pawn shop
A woman died in a crash near a Dayton pawn shop on Wednesday. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Dayton officers and medics were called to the 1200 block of E. Third Street when it crossed over the painted turn lane into eastbound lanes, left the road, and hit a tree. The driver, a 22-year-old woman, had to be extricated from the car. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The woman was the only person in the car at the time of the crash. Woman arrested; accused of removing, hiding suspected meth in cruiser
Deputies and a drug task force arrested a man and woman on drug-related charges after several traffic stops in Mercer County. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Deanna Chittum, 32 from Celina, was initially arrested for driving under suspension and fictitious registration, according to Mercer County Chief Deputy Martin Emerine. She is accused of removing suspected methamphetamine from her body and hiding it in the back of the patrol car. She is being held in the Mercer County Jail on no bond, Deputy Emerine said. Andrew Hesse, 43, from Celina, has been charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug abuse instruments. Retired Logan County judge dies at 80-years-old
A retired local judge has passed away. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Longtime Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark O'Connor died Monday at the age of 80 after battling heart and lung issues for several months, according to his online obituary. Judge O'Connor was appointed to the Logan County Common Pleas Court in 1990. He served for 26 years until he retired in 2016 when age term limitations dictated his retirement, his obituary said. His visitation is scheduled for Friday at St. Patrick Church in Bellefontaine from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. O'Connor is survived by his wife, Martha, and other family members. 13-year-old charged with murder of 64-year-old Ohio woman
A 13-year-old has been arrested and charged with the murder of a 64-year-old Ohio woman. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The teen was charged in Hamilton County Juvenile Court with murder in connection to the death of Shelia 'Denise' Tenpenny, according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost. Police looking for man accused of stealing from local store Tenpenny was found dead on Feb. 2 inside her Fairfax home in northeastern Hamilton County. On Feb. 6, investigators revealed that Tenpenny's killer had likely been injured while committing the crime and reached out to the public for help locating them.
