18-year-old and juvenile injured after Saturday's semi-vehicle crash in Darke County

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – An 18-year-old and his juvenile passenger were injured after a semi-vehicle crash on Saturday evening in Darke County. According to the Darke County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened at approximately 5 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 36 and Jaysville-St. Johns Road. The initial investigation found a white 2016 Freightliner tractor/trailer, driven by a 37-year-old man from Dallas, Texas, stopped at the sign on Jaysville-St. Johns Road at U.S. Route 36. Officials said he failed to yield the right of way to a blue 1994 GMC 1500 heading west. The GMC was driven by an 18-year-old from Bradford. This failure caused the GMC to hit the Freightliner. Medics took the 18-year-old and his juvenile passenger to Wayne HealthCare for minor injuries. The semi driver was treated and released on scene, he was given a citation for failure to yield after a marked stop sign. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
