Two men charged with first-degree murder after fatal Edmonton shooting
Two men are facing first-degree murder charges after a fatal shooting in southeast Edmonton earlier this month.
On Tuesday, police announced charges against the pair following the April 6 shooting of 52-year-old Darrell Demchuk, who was gunned down near 66 Street and 38 Avenue.
Officers attempted emergency first aid, but Demchuk died on scene.
Last week, detectives said the area was busy with pedestrians and vehicle traffic and appealed for witnesses. They were also seeking information about a blue 2016 Honda Pilot believed to be the suspect vehicle.
On Sunday, officers arrested Jerad Wuttunee, 36, and Brandon Herry, 45, who are both charged with first-degree murder.
First-degree murder charges indicate investigators believe the killing was planned and deliberate, though police said it does not appear the deceased and accused knew each other.
