Dr. Martens releases limited-edition 1460 boot
This story was originally published on Fashion Dive. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Fashion Dive newsletter. Dr. Martens is introducing a special edition boot on Tuesday to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the brand, according to a press release. The boot, dubbed Pascal Love Letter, is a rendition of Dr. Martens' popular 1460 design. It's produced at the brand's original factory in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, England, and features a deep burgundy colorway with antique gold eyelets and tonal laces. The anniversary 1460 will be available online and at eight Dr. Martens retail stores, including locations in New York, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, San Diego, Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon. It retails for $460. In a nod to the style's number, only 1,460 pairs will be sold. The style number is also an homage to the date it was created: April 1, 1960. That date is additionally debossed on the boot's tongue. Dr. Martens' 65th anniversary comes at a time of change for the company. Creative Director Darren McKoy stepped down from his position earlier this year, after a decade with the brand, and a replacement has not been named. In January, Ije Nwokorie was promoted to CEO of the company, succeeding Kenny Wilson. Nwokorie was most recently the chief brand officer of Dr. Martens. When Wilson announced his departure in November, the brand was facing a weak fiscal year outlook. Dr. Martens most recently reported financial results in January. For Q3, the company's revenue dropped 3% year over year to 260 million pounds, or about $336.4 million. Its DTC revenue fell 5%, while its wholesale results increased 3%.
