Police: 4-year-old girl drowns at Zachary community pool
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Police said a 4-year-old girl drowned in a community pool during a graduation party Monday night.
The Zachary Police Department responded around 7:30 p.m. to a Meadow View Subdivision community pool.
'The family was having a graduation party when the victim's mother found the child in the pool,' ZPD said. She took her daughter out of the pool and started CPR.
The Zachary Fire Department then arrived and administered CPR and AED protocols. EMS took the girl to a hospital after performing life-saving measures.
An attempt was made to save the girl's life, but it was not successful, and she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
'This is a tragic incident that remains under investigation. I extend my condolences and prayers to the family,' ZPD Chief Darryl Lawrence Sr. said.
