DoorDasher makes delivery, then takes off with Northglenn man's packages
NORTHGLENN, Colo. (KDVR) — It's an incident caught on camera that one Northglenn man couldn't believe. A DoorDash delivery driver was stealing his packages right from his front door while dropping off food to his neighbor. The entire encounter took less than 30 seconds. 'Terribly tragic': Neighbors heartbroken after fire kills 2 in Denver 'So, they dropped it off at the door per usual. I never had problems before,' said Alex Teufel. Alex is referring to his Pokémon cards he has been selling online to help make extra money. They were delivered just before 4:30 p.m. on April 21 in the 12000 block of Claude Court in Northglenn. 'I came out two hours after it had been delivered and it was gone,' he said. Alex learned his neighbors had ordered food through DoorDash before the situation. His neighbor's surveillance camera appeared to catch the delivery guy not just dropping off the food, but then swiping his package in the process.. 'It was a little strange. The video, especially,' said Alex. 'It's one thing if it's word of mouth.' Alex says he reported the situation to police and his neighbors shared the encounter with DoorDash, but there's been no resolution. 'As far as I know, the neighbors that got the order, they weren't given much information,' said Alex. 'Just the first name of the driver and they will follow up.' He estimates the packages were worth around $300. 'So, nothing like extremely detrimental, but more than I can afford to lose,' said Alex. 'It's unacceptable': Aurora speed racing task force cracks down on illegal speed racing Reflecting on the situation, Alex knows he may not be able to retrieve his items, but he wants to make sure to share his story so others are vigilant. 'It seems pretty easy for them to do it, but then again, there's also bad apples,' said Alex. 'I hope that maybe this brings like, hey, wake up these guys, not all of them are doing the right things when they are doing their jobs.' We reached out to DoorDash, and a spokesperson sent this statement. 'The video clearly shows this individual brazenly doing the wrong thing and stealing. We've deactivated the Dasher account and will reach out to the neighbor to help make things right. We have no tolerance for stealing or theft.' Town official shoots lost DoorDash driver as he tries to drive away, NY cops say
National Town official shoots lost DoorDash driver as he tries to drive away, NY cops say A public official for a New York town is accused of shooting a DoorDash delivery driver who state police said had gotten lost. Marques Thomas via Unsplash A town's highway superintendent warned a man trying to deliver a DoorDash order to 'get off his property,' then shot him in the back as he went to drive away, New York state police said. The DoorDash driver, who was lost, arrived at a hospital with 'serious' injuries from the gunshot, one of several John J. Reilly III fired at him at his home in the Town of Chester the evening of May 2, according to a New York State Police news release. Reilly, the town's highway official, was arrested May 3 on charges of first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, state police said. The town is about a 65-mile drive northwest from New York City. Attorney information for him wasn't immediately available. New York State Police Capt. Joseph Kolek, in a statement to WABC-TV, said 'there's nothing to indicate the victim had any nefarious intentions, he's just out there doing his job, trying to make a food delivery.' Before the shooting, the man was trying to find the home of a DoorDash customer who lived in a Chester neighborhood, according to authorities. But he couldn't locate the residence. He 'became lost and unable to navigate using the (DoorDash) app,' state police said. The man visited several nearby homes for help, asking for directions, until he went to Reilly's house where Reilly repeatedly shot at the driver shortly after encountering him, according to authorities. 'We are deeply troubled by what has been reported so far,' Chester Town Supervisor Brandon Holdridge told The Times Union newspaper. 'We hope the person who was injured in the incident makes a full and healthy recovery.' The town doesn't have authority over Reilly's job because he was elected to the local government position, Holdridge told the outlet. Reilly appeared in court for an arraignment and was detained at the Orange County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond, a $500,000 bond or a $750,000 partially secured bond, according to state police. He's due for a preliminary hearing in the Town of Chester Court the morning of May 9, state police said. 'No one should ever fear for their safety just for trying to make deliveries in their neighborhood,' a DoorDash spokesperson said in a statement to McClatchy News. 'We're devastated by this senseless act of violence, and we're wishing the Dasher a full and speedy recovery.' DoorDash is working with authorities in their investigation of the shooting, the spokesperson added. The town didn't immediately return McClatchy News' request for comment May 6. Sandy Springs woman says DoorDash driver turned into ‘porch pirate'
A Sandy Springs woman says a meal delivery driver helped themselves to more than just a tip. The woman says she received a notification that a package had been delivered, but when she arrived home from work, her package was missing. 'When I got home, I saw that it wasn't there,' she said. While her doorstep was bare, the renter says her Ring doorbell camera showed that the hallway hadn't been. 'I checked my Ring camera and saw who stole it... I looked back an hour and saw there was a DoorDash driver,' explained the woman. The renter says she believes the person seen delivering the food is the same person who stole her package. She filed a police report with the Sandy Springs Police Department, sent the videos to DoorDash, and then spotted that same person the next day. 'The day after I was in contact with DoorDash and Sandy Springs, I went out to Food Terminal to eat. Not even 30 seconds later, I see a guy with the same shoes on, same socks, same pants, same hair coming out of his hat,' said the woman. She got surveillance video from the restaurant hall and was able to get the Dasher's name from restaurant employees. She said she sent that to the meal delivery company, and shortly after, she received an email stating the Dasher had been removed from the platform. In an email response, a DoorDash representative wrote: 'Thank you for your time today. I want you to know that we take safety concerns very seriously at DoorDash, as your safety is our top priority. In the case of an emergency, please call 911 immediately. We do not condone this type of action and have therefore taken the step of removing them from our platform. This Dasher will no longer be able to deliver future orders on DoorDash. Results of all internal investigations are kept private.' A DoorDash spokesperson shared with Channel 2's Brittany Kleinpeter that they ultimately made the decision to deactivate the Dasher from their platform because of the video evidence provided by the Sandy Springs resident. The spokesperson shared the following statement: 'Whenever we are made aware of an incident involving a Dasher or any other member of our community, our 24/7 Trust & Safety team investigates and takes all appropriate actions, including reaching out, providing support, and engaging with law enforcement as needed.' At last check, the Sandy Springs Police Department said that the investigation remains active, and no arrests have been made. DoorDash rolls out food delivery robots in Los Angeles
A robot on wheels could serve up your next meal thanks to a partnership between DoorDash and Coco Robotics that's bringing food delivery robots to Los Angeles sidewalks. The food delivery service DoorDash announced Thursday that eligible customers in Los Angeles and Chicago can order food through their app to be delivered by a small, box-shaped robot with zero emissions. Coco Robotics and similar companies such as Serve Robotics and Starship Technologies have been operating food delivery robots in Los Angeles and other cities for several years. DoorDash's international arm Wolt began a partnership with Coco in Helsinki, Finland this year. 'We're excited to expand our partnership with DoorDash, combining Coco's AI robocourier platform with DoorDash's national scale and reach,' Coco Chief Executive Zach Rash said in a statement. 'This collaboration marks an important step forward in reshaping urban delivery in the U.S.' Coco has a fleet of more than 1,000 delivery robots that are remotely controlled by human operators. The company is headquartered in Santa Monica and was founded in 2020 by two UCLA graduates. Despite the challenges of navigating busy city sidewalks and crosswalks already shared by pedestrians, Coco robots have completed more than 400,000 deliveries and partnered with hundreds of restaurants. Using delivery robots instead of human drivers can save restaurants up to 50% in profits, according to Coco's website. Frustrated or skeptical passersby have kicked the bots or intentionally obstructed their path, while the cities of New York and San Francisco have banned them, on and off, because of congestion concerns. Some opponents say the bots take jobs from human workers and contribute to chaotic urban traffic. DoorDash Labs, the company's robotics and automation arm involved in the Coco partnership, announced a collaboration last year with a drone delivery service called Wing. Wing drones began delivering food in Christiansburg, Va., in March 2024 after launching a pilot program in Australia in 2022. 'Not every delivery needs a two-ton car just to deliver two chicken sandwiches,' Harrison Shih, senior director of DoorDash Labs, said in a statement. 'We believe the future of delivery will be multi-modal, and we're thrilled to partner with Coco to expand sidewalk robot deliveries that complement the Dasher network.' Coco robots will partner with nearly 600 merchants in Los Angeles through the DoorDash app. The robots' median delivery distance is one mile, according to a company spokesperson.

15 Real Rejected Dwarf Names For The Original "Snow White" That Are So Good, They Should've Come Back For The Live-Action
You know Dasher and Dancer and — wait, wrong lineup! Seriously though, you know Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, but do you know about their poor, rejected counterparts? In the original Grimm Brothers story, the dwarves had no names, and when the story fell into Disney's hands, he was determined to give them each a distinct and memorable personality. While mining through the pages of the Disney wiki, I learned that in 1934, there were actually 60 proposed dwarfs! From Cranky to Sniffy, these quirky characters were eventually trimmed down to the seven we know and love. With the live-action version having just been released, I'm feeling some major FOMO on their behalf. So, naturally, I gave them the glow-up they never got. These dwarfs never saw the light of day, until now! So, without further ado, high-ho, off you go! 1. Meet Busy, Doc's better half and the ONLY reason the dwarves profit from their mining. 2. Burpy permanently smells like ale, but he has 1,001 dad jokes that will have you dying of laughter. 3. Be careful not to startle Jumpy too much, and keep her FAR away from Sneezy during the springtime. 4. Nifty's never met a knick-knack she didn't like. A tiny MacGyver, she can make anything out of nothing and has everything in her pack. 5. Don't play cards with Shifty. There's no proof he's ever cheated, but it's best not to try. 6. And here's Awful. Enough said, just steer clear. 7. Gabby has a story for everything, but be warned; she WILL talk your ear off. 8. Gloomy might be a little low vibe at times, but they play a mean fiddle that will soothe any sad soul. 9. Just like her name, she is Graceful and possibly half-Disney princess. We're not quite sure. 10. Dizzy is always getting turned around, but he knows the best places to forage mushrooms. 11. Lazy is a lovable oaf, but being too lazy to sit down is maybe a little too on-brand. 12. Snappy is her name, and fixing things in a snap is her game. 13. Be forewarned, Hungry eats as much as he makes! 14. With a certain 'despicable' duck taking the stage around the same time, you can imagine why this little lady was saved to draft, but MY Daffy is still a laugh and a half, even if she tends to get a little lost in her own world. 15. And last but not least is the youngest dwarf, Snoopy. No not the beloved dog, but just as cute! No forest secrets are safe from this youngster. Which whimsical dwarf would you love to meet next?
