‘Moon over Buffalo': Hilarious farce at Bloomington Theatre
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — An evening of non-stop laughter and a whirlwind of mishaps and misunderstandings awaits in 'Moon Over Buffalo' opening May 9, at Bloomington Community Players Theatre.
Dave Krostal, who plays George Hay in the play, told WMBD This Morning the play is about an aging couple of famous Broadway darlings attempting to make one more big splash on stage as television moves in to change their lives.
The fast-paced farce, all takes place all in one day, and mostly all in one room. Krostal says of the plot 'two shows really kind of get mixed up at some point, so different changes of costume, people coming out at the wrong time, lots of doors closing and opening, it's definitely a farse.'
The zany Carol Burnett, who had taken a 30-year hiatus from stage acting, played Charlette Hay in the 1995 Broadway version. Envisioning her personality, Krostal said, will give people a sense of what to expect.
'It's a lot of fun, its's a wild, wild ride, it's about an hour and 45 minutes, but it's nonstop,' he said.
Moon over Buffalo, plays May 9 through 11 and May 16 through 18. Fridays and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. while the Sunday show starts at 2:30 p.m. Tickets range $9 to $17.
