76 healthcare professionals have joined the Massachusetts Nurses Association to gain a real voice in decisions impacting patient care and working conditions METHUEN Mass. and HAVERHILL, Mass., June 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The healthcare professionals of Holy Family Hospital have voted to form a union and join the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA), the largest union of nurses and healthcare professionals in the state. The group of 76 professionals – including respiratory therapists, social workers, physical therapists, and others – won their election with about 90% support in a vote on Wednesday, June 11. Healthcare professionals from both the Methuen and Haverhill campuses participated in the election, which was conducted in-person under the supervision of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The decisive victory by the Holy Family healthcare professionals reflects their unity and determination to advocate for better conditions for their patients and themselves. "We are united in our mission to provide exceptional care to our communities," said Dave Matthews, a Holy Family physical therapist and member of the organizing committee. "Forming our union means we will finally have an equal seat at the table to make decisions that impact the quality of care we provide every day." "We know the best patient outcomes happen when healthcare professionals are empowered to advocate for improved working conditions," said Sandy Mansur, a Holy Family social worker and member of the organizing committee. "By unionizing, we are standing up for our patients, our colleagues, and the future of healthcare at Holy Family Hospital." Holy Family MNA Co-Chair and RN Karen Powers said in support, "We welcome the healthcare professionals to the MNA and support them getting their first contract. They are an extraordinary part of the care community at Holy Family!" Following the election, Holy Family healthcare professionals will vote for their local elected leaders and bargaining committee, work together to develop contract proposals, and begin negotiations for their first MNA contract. The MNA represents more than 26,000 nurses and healthcare professionals across Massachusetts, including workers at more than 70% of the Commonwealth's acute care hospitals. The organization is governed by a board of nurses and healthcare professionals elected by the membership. │ │ │ Founded in 1903, the Massachusetts Nurses Association is the largest union of registered nurses in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. GWS Giants CEO wants AFL matches to be shortened as ‘dead time' threatens Sydney market
GWS Giants CEO Dave Matthews wants the AFL to tighten the length of matches to help attract a new audience to the game in Sydney. With more score reviews now than ever, plus various other hold-ups in the game, AFL matches are dragging on longer than usual. And with the dominant footy code in the northern states, rugby league, already a more digestible length in to consume, Matthews says the AFL needs to adapt to keep New South Wales fans engaged. 'I spoke to Dave Matthews in recent days, he wants the quarters in AFL matches shortened,' Mitch Cleary said on Monday night's episode of The Agenda Setters. 'He feels that Sydney, in that market, they're trying to attract new people to the games. 'He feels that two and a half minutes on average this year the games are going longer than ever before — it is too long, Dave wants them shorter and he's lobbying that with the AFL.' Caroline Wilson added: 'How did that go down with the AFL? I'm sure that Fox Footy and Channel 7 wouldn't be thrilled about that.' Craig Hutchison said there was no way the broadcasters would allow quarters to be shortened, given the commercial dependance they have. 'It's got zero chance with the broadcasters,' he said. And while that may be true, Kane Cornes said there are still ways to tighten up games. In Opening Round, the umpires were widely slammed for stopping the game when Collingwood star Nick Daicos suffered a cramp, something around which the match should normally be played, provided it is safe to do so — which it was. 'What about tying up little things though? Like not stopping the game for a player who's got a corky. That would help,' Cornes said. Cleary added: 'And that's where it is; it's the dead time, it's where can you try and shave some time off in games. 'It's not taking away from the actual game time, it's the dead time, the AFL call it.'

Teen in stolen SUV crashes into home, narrowly misses homeowner in Bristol Township: "People were very lucky"
Dave Matthews is grateful that his 41-year-old son survived after Bristol Township police say a 16-year-old boy stole a SUV and crashed into his son's home. "He heard a big bang and he didn't know what that was, so he got up to investigate, and he went back down the hallway," said Matthews. "Next thing you know, he sees lights and there's a car in the house." Matthews said his son was sleeping in the living room due to a back injury. The SUV tore through a bedroom and bathroom. "It could have been a real disaster," Matthews said. CBS Philadelphia "The initial call was for juveniles in the area going through vehicles," said Bristol Township Police Sgt. Jason Mancuso. Police responded to the 400 block of Stonybrook Drive late Monday night, and say when the 16-year-old saw their lights, the teen took off, crashing into the home. "People were very lucky," Mancuso said. "If someone was sleeping in the bedroom or in the living room or wherever that vehicle hit that house, someone could have been seriously injured." CBS Philadelphia Police say the teen came from Trenton, New Jersey, and has no prior connection to the township. Their message to the public: Make sure your car is locked. "If they can get in the vehicle without much effort, they will get in the vehicle," Mancuso said. "If the vehicle is locked, 99.9% of the time they move on to the next vehicle." CBS Philadelphia Matthews said, despite the damage, his son walked away OK, and that's what matters. "We're glad he's okay," Matthews said. Bristol Township police say the 16-year-old is being charged as a juvenile, and they are still investigating if others were involved. Again, they are urging car owners to lock their cars.

SI Doubles Down On Live Events With DraftKings At The Masters
Dave Matthews, frontman of America's bestselling jam band, holds court in the backyard of a house in Augusta's tony West Lake neighborhood that's been transformed into a high-end pop-up concert venue. 'This is the second golf course I've ever played,' the songwriter quips before breaking into the bluesy 'Save Me,' a track that gets golf fans' heads bobbing. The Masters may be played from sunup to sundown, but the excitement generated by players wending their way around Amen Corner and jockeying for position atop the leaderboard at Augusta National or palling around with family during the Par 3 Contest doesn't end when the final putt drops. Brands like Sports Illustrated — who partnered with DraftKings for Augusta After Dark presented by on Wednesday night — are leaning into after-hours experiences to keep the buzz of major sporting events going well into the night. SI's Masters Week after-party blended live music, hospitality, and celebrity appearances from NFL players and reality dating show stars, giving fans another reason to stay plugged into the tournament vibe after hours. The event marked the second time SI and DraftKings have teamed up, following a collaboration around the NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco back in February. The goal of the event, according to Matt Goldstein, executive vice president of entertainment and special projects at Authentic, the parent company of Sports Illustrated, was to 'showcase the heritage of the SI brand through the lens of the Masters and golf and do it in an invite-only situation to create this aura of, 'if you're not there, you're really missing out.'' 'We're not reinventing the wheel, but what we've proven through our global experiences is that we can throw the best event wherever we go—and now, that includes Augusta.' For DraftKings, the event offered a strategic business opportunity: reward their loyalty program members while building broader brand awareness in the ultra-competitive sports betting space. 'Could they stand up an event on their own? Absolutely,' Goldstein said. 'But why not partner with a trusted brand that's best-in-class when it comes to creating experiences? For us, it's also about shouting from the rooftops what Sports Illustrated is doing around the world.' Goldstein has been with Authentic for three years and prior to that spent a decade overseeing live entertainment partnerships at Madison Square Garden. The impetus for the après-sporting-event shindigs was his team spotting a big daypart gap: an opportunity to keep the excitement of major athletic spectacles going into the evening. 'Between the Super Bowl and F1 in Austin, we started building these off track and off field experiences that consumers would have the ability to enjoy. The rights-holders that were involved in the events themselves started leaning on these opportunities to further amplify and build awareness around their sports,' Goldstein said. The events are structured as revenue-generating ventures within a for-profit division of Authentic that works closely with partners willing to invest in creating high-profile experiences around the world, making them accretive to SI's bottom line. 'If someone is going to attend an F1 event at night that may not have attended the race itself—we are attracting a new fan. It's taken off like wildfire and has been an incredible growth story over the last three and half years around the world,' he added. SI put on 10 such events in 2023, expanded to 15 in 2024 and has 35 scheduled for the 2025 calendar—including evening experiences built around LIV Golf's tour stops in Miami (already completed), Mexico City, and Chicago. For many fans, Sports Illustrated — a seven-decade-old legacy media player— still conjures memories of flipping through glossy magazine pages and diving into longform stories of athletic greatness, long before mobile devices rewired how people consume content. 'As the world evolves around digital content, branded experiences and social media it was really important for us to evolve the brand and the ability we've had to do that around these global experiences has made tremendous headway in and around the industry,' Goldstein said, reflecting on SI's evolution beyond the page and screen. "We've become synonymous with best-in-class experiences at the biggest moments in global sports," Goldstein said. "People expect us to show up at the big moments, which is why we're investing so heavily in golf right now." In past few years the sport has become a renewed priority for SI as golf's pop culture cred shot up the leaderboard with hit shows like Netflix's Full Swing, a bevy of new clothing brands that have crossed over into the mainstream vanguard and the debut of the prime time sim league that is the TGL. 'There was also a gap. What are you going to do at Augusta at night when you're there for The Masters. And LIV Golf is popping up in all these cities domestically and around the world and the Ryder Cup will be back at Beth Page in New York and when you can tap into all those diffrent markets—if we didn't show up there it would almost be like we were not doing our job,' Goldstein explained. Outside of the after-party business, Club SI premium hospitality areas inside sporting venues, is another expansion area for the brand. Currently there is one at Churchill Downs that was built during the $200 million paddock renovation last year and similar temporary structures were purpose-built in Austin and Vegas for Formula 1 events. Another permanent Club SI lounge is coming to Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison NJ. At the end of last year, Sports Illustrated Tickets, a separate entity from the media business, struck a 13-year naming rights deal with the MLS's New York Red Bulls' 25,000 seat soccer-specific facility. SI Tickets is coming aboard as the venue's official ticketing partner beginning in 2026. Goldstein notes, 'Club SI is a really important business opportunity for us to continue to expand, and we are in conversations with a number of different properties around the world to open more.'
