Family friend of Wigtown teenager who died from car accident says £5000 raised has been 'amazing'
A family friend of a Wigtown teenager who died from a car accident says "it's amazing" the local community have fundraised nearly £5000 for his funeral in just under two days. David Bark, 18, died last Saturday following a road accident involving a white Ford Transit van on the A75 near the village of Carsluith, on 18 April 2025. Sean Little, who set up the fundraiser, says David would always be up for talking to people. He said: "There's a Scottish saying 'boys will be boys', that's probably a good way of describing David. "Kids when they're with their friends, they sometimes don't like to talk to you and or say hello, but David was different. "If he was out with his friends and you were walking the dog, he'd always raise his head and talk." Sean says David's family are moved by the local support they've received since his death. He added: "People have made 200 donations and some people have donated between £200 and £100. Even a couple of pounds - it all adds up. "We're living in a time where everyone is financially strapped up and down the country. The fact it's totalled £4000, it's amazing."
