Survivor 48 star David Kinne reveals his girlfriend left him after he didn't win the show

This season of Survivor has brought its fair share of emotional twists and gut-wrenching betrayals, but for contestant David Kinne , the loss went beyond the island — it hit his personal life too. Kinne, 39, was eliminated from Season 48 during the Wednesday, April 23 episode in a vote that left him feeling 'blindsided.' The former castaway opened up to Entertainment Weekly following his exit, sharing not just the heartbreak of being voted out, but also the fallout waiting for him back home. Earlier in the season, Kinne revealed that his girlfriend had given him an ultimatum: come home with the prize money, or don't come home at all. Sadly, it seems she meant it. In his post-show interview, Kinne confirmed that his relationship ended just 'a few weeks after she found out I didn't win.' 'She was out the door,' Kinne said. 'It hurt, but maybe that was the clarity I needed.' Despite the heartbreak, Kinne's post-Survivor life is turning a corner. He shared that he's now in a new relationship — and this time, the connection is based on something deeper than a million-dollar prize. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Jawa Timur: AI guru Andrew Ng recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Aroun... In fact, he even admitted, 'I'm almost glad I didn't win a million dollars.' Reflecting on his elimination, Kinne described the moment as a painful surprise. 'There are so many emotions going through that moment, and the worst part about it is I truly believe they got it wrong,' he said. 'I was doing everything I could to keep my alliance intact. I was the ride or die kind of guy. I was going to go to the end with them.' Though his game ended earlier than he'd hoped, David Kinne walks away with more than he expected — not in money, but in lessons, growth, and perhaps, a new beginning worth far more. But Kinne said he considers the breakup 'such a blessing' because it 'was a really toxic relationship looking back at it.' 9 David Kinne in his interview with The Post. 9 David Kinne talking about 'Survivor 48.' 'And since then, things have worked out brilliantly,' he shared. 'I'm so blessed. I'm now currently in Ohio, so I'm out of the trailer, much better situation that I'm in. I moved out here. I'm working as a jump pilot. So I'm flying skydivers for the season. And so I am building hours towards the career, getting in the airlines, starting that family one day that I truly want.' Kinne also confirmed he's 'dating the most incredible woman' now. 'She is the girl of my dreams,' he gushed. 9 David Kinne on 'Survivor 48.' CBS via Getty Images Kinne spoke to The Post about some fans calling him a 'villain' on social media, as well. He insisted it's a title he doesn't think he deserves. 'I could be the most perfect 'Survivor' player. I could do everything almost right. And the moment I make the smallest, little mistake, they're like, 'Oh yeah, that guy's an a-hole,'' Kinne said. 'That's the nature of it. I've dealt with that my whole life. So it doesn't rub me the wrong way at all. I just kind of laugh at it because I know who I am.' 9 David Kinne, Jeff Probst on 'Survivor.' I have a great read on everybody. You could argue my social game at the very end there. But I think it's just funny and I laugh at it.' Kinne called out 'the hypocrisy' of certain viewers coming for him — but praising Kamilla Karthigesu. 9 Kamilla Karthigesu on 'Survivor 48.' 'And you're gonna praise her, her gameplay, when she's literally just letting Kyle do her dirty work? And if it wasn't for Kyle pushing, she would have been out the door. And yet she's somehow this amazing player and she's allowed to say all these things and I'm not. I literally didn't say anything aggressive or negative. And I just laugh at it.' 'Do you not realize your own hypocrisy here because of the fact that… what? Because I have muscles? Because I look the way that I do? I think it's hilarious.' 9 David Kinne, Eva Erickson, Charity Nelms, Star Toomey, and Mary Zheng on 'Survivor 48.' CBS via Getty Images Regarding his elimination, Kinne admitted he 'wasn't shocked' about being betrayed by his 'Strong 5' alliance members Kyle Fraser, Eva Erickson, Shauhin Davari and Joe Hunter. 'I had a really good feeling that there was some animosity and there were some issues within this core five alliance,' he explained. 'I didn't particularly know if it was going to be me or not, but I had a strong feeling — like 80% chance — that there was going be an issue or someone on the strong five was going to be targeted. And then among that, I had a 50% chance feeling that it was gonna be me.' 9 David Kinne in his interview with The Post. 9 Joe Hunter and Eva Erickson in 'Survivor 48.' CBS via Getty Images 'But no, I wasn't really truly shocked. It was more like when I gave that look to Joe, it was a look of disappointment,' he added. 'I thought him and I were on the same page because he looked to me at one point in the island, he says, 'I'm never going to stab you in the back. I'm going to give you a sword and we're going to duel it to the end.' And I was like, 'Yes, that's what I want.'' 'And obviously, he didn't do that,' Kinne said of Hunter. 'He went back on his word multiple times. That was a look of disappointment rather than shock.' 'Survivor' airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
