Chelsea will be competing in the Champions League next season by virtue of finishing fourth in the Premier League, a major step up in quality for their young squad, but having had the taste of European success they will be hungry for more. "It's a great feeling. As the game went on we grew into it and thankfully we scored four goals in the second half," James told TNT. "Coming into this competition, it was something we had to win. Next season we go again in the Champions League." Chelsea trailed at halftime and deservedly so as Betis dominated the first 45 minutes and might have been further ahead following Abde Ezzalzouli's early opener. But Enzo Maresca's Chelsea side took control after the break and, led by their irrepressible England international Cole Palmer, romped to an easy win in the end. The midfielder laid on goals for Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson, before Jadon Sancho and Moises Caicedo made the scoreline more emphatic late on. "I thought in the first half we were flat. The game didn't go our way early on and it looked like it took a lot out of us. We needed a reaction in the second half and we got it," James said. "We knew the game was going to be tough; they made it tough for us in the first half. They got an early goal and it unsettled us." Chelsea are the first English side to win all four major European trophies - including the now defunct Cup Winners' Cup. They have also won two UEFA Super Cups. "To be the first club to have won everything possible, you can see the fans celebrating now and it shows how much it means to them," Chelsea defender Levi Colwill said. "We knew they (Betis) were going to be a good team, especially at the start with their fans pushing them on, but we knew it was going to die off. Soccer-Liverpool to unveil new Heysel memorial marking 40th anniversary of disaster

The fans, mainly Italian Juventus supporters, were killed when a wall collapsed after Liverpool fans charged them before the European Cup final in Brussels in 1985. More than 600 were also injured in one of the worst disasters in soccer stadiums, leading to a five-year ban for English clubs from European competition. "Titled 'Forever Bound', the new memorial will replace the existing plaque currently situated on the wall of the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand and will move to a new location at the stadium," Liverpool said in a statement. "The newly designed memorial will feature two scarves knotted together and gently tied - symbolising the unity and solidarity between the two clubs and the bond formed through shared grief and mutual respect in the aftermath of the disaster." Liverpool said the plans for the new memorial were shared with Juventus and the families who lost loved ones. The memorial will be unveiled later in the English summer. Juventus are unveiling their own near their Allianz Stadium on May 29, the anniversary of the disaster. "To see a new memorial created with such care means a lot and it's incredibly important to have a fitting tribute to remember the 39 fans who lost their lives," the Liverpool statement cited Ian Rush, who played for both clubs and also witnessed the tragedy in 1985, as saying. The 33-year-old will leave City after a decade at the club having lifted six Premier League titles, as well as winning the Champions League and Club World Cup in 2023. The Belgian is under contract until June 30, which covers three Club World Cup matches in the United States, but De Bruyne said he would have to look out for his own interests. "I think in a way I have to take care of myself because if I get injured in the Club World Cup, what am I going to do? Nobody's going to take care of me at that point," he said after the FA Cup final in quotes carried by The Athletic. "So there's a big chance probably that I won't play it, but I don't know. I'm just a player. I don't make the rules, I can't do anything about it. So in the end, like I said, I'll probably have to take care of myself." The 32-team tournament runs from June 14 to July 13. PSV lifted the title they won last season to take their overall tally to 26, 10 behind Ajax, as they finished the season with 79 points from 34 games, one ahead of their great rivals from Amsterdam. Ivan Perisic put PSV ahead after 27 minutes but when Gjivai Zechiel equalised for Sparta, Ajax, who at one stage had a nine-point lead in the title race, took over at the top of the table as they went on to win 2-0 at home to FC Twente. But De Jong restored PSV's lead after 58 minutes and when Tillman rifled in a third from the edge of the box with six minutes remaining, the visitors were able to celebrate their seventh win in a row and claiming the league championship. LONDON - Eberechi Eze scored on either side of halftime to give Crystal Palace a 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and condemn the hosts to their 20th Premier League defeat of the season. After a dominant display in the first half and two disallowed goals, Palace finally broke the deadlock just before halftime when winger Daniel Munoz bombed down the right flank and squared the ball to Eze for a tap in. Three minutes after the interval Tottenham were rocked by another sweeping attack as Eze ghosted into the box and calmly slotted home Ismaila Sarr's pass to net his seventh league goal of the season. Palace remained in 12th place with 49 points from 36 games after their first league win since April, while Tottenham drop down into 17th place after West Ham United beat Manchester United.
