Mandatory evacuation order issued for parts of Dyer County
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The immediate, mandatory evacuation of residents of multiple Dyer County residents has been ordered, per Dyer County Mayor David Quick. In a Facebook post made on Monday by Dyer County 911 Communications, it was announced that due to the imminent threat of flooding, all residents from the East side of Highway 78, including the community of Cocklebur and surrounding communities in Bogota, Tennessee. According to the 2020 census, the population of Bogota is 89. Residents could face the following consequences if they do not comply with the order: Emergency responders may not be able to assist you past this point You may be personally liable for any damages or injuries sustained This is a lawful order In the post, the following instructions were given to aid in their evacuation process: Evacuate quickly Follow designated evacuation routes Go to the designated evacuation shelter (First United Methodist Church of Dyersburg) Contact Emergency Management Director, Chief James Medling for updates (his phone number is 731-589-7573) Bring essential supplies Secure your property Do not return to the area until instructed to do so by authorities.
