Woman dials cops and hangs up before officers make devastating discovery inside

A man, 39, and a woman, 37, have been issued with a full Slavery and Trafficking Risk Order after cops made the shocking find. A duo has been slapped with a full Slavery and Trafficking Risk Order following a harrowing incident that unveiled a modern slavery operation. The pair's abhorrent activity came to light when police responded to a 999 call from a distressed woman, which abruptly ended. Initial investigations at the scene appeared unremarkable as a woman assured officers their assistance wasn't required. However, persistent officers unraveled a shocking truth — the phone used for the emergency call didn't match the identity of the person they questioned. Returning to the site, the police conducted a meticulous search, uncovering two women imprisoned in separate rooms, reports Birmingham Live. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Alongside the captives, a hefty sum of cash was seized, leading authorities to suspect modern slavery was at play. In the wake of the November 2023 discovery, arrests were made as a 39 year old man and a 37 year old woman faced charges of false imprisonment. The immediate imposition of interim orders followed an application to the court concerning the premises on Evesham Road in Redditch. Come Tuesday, May 13, the pair received comprehensive Slavery and Trafficking Risk Orders, set to last for four years. Police Sergeant David Roberts, linked with the Redditch Town Centre team, expressed his resolve: "Modern day slavery is often hidden in plain sight, and we are committed to identifying and disrupting it within our communities." He applauded the orders' issuance: "I welcome these full orders which help us protect vulnerable people who may be coerced or exploited whilst sending out a clear message that such activity will not be tolerated." Roberts also emphasised the continued support for victims: "Support is offered to any individuals affected with our partner agencies to provide long term help and safeguarding. "Anyone with concerns about exploitation or modern-day slavery can report to your local policing team or the modern-day slavery helpline on 08000121700." A representative for West Mercia Police stated: "A man and woman from Redditch have been given a full Slavery and Trafficking Risk Order after officers found two women they suspected to be victims of modern slavery. "On November 15 2023, officers attended a property after a dropped 999 call where a woman sounded like she was in distress. Officers attended and a woman told them they were not required. "Officers left the address, however, due to their concerns carried out further enquiries and identified the number that had contacted police did not belong to the occupant. Officers returned to the property and carried out a search where they found two women locked in rooms and large amounts of cash at the address. It's believed the women were victims of modern slavery. "A man, 39, and woman, 37, were arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment. Officers applied to the court for the orders to be put in place at the property on Evesham Road in Redditch and interim orders were put in place. "On Tuesday 13 May the man and woman were issued with full Slavery and Trafficking Risk Orders that will be in place for four years."
