Chanel Billionaire's Son Hires Investment Manager and Unveils Deals
The son of one of Chanel 's billionaire owners is bolstering the ranks of his growing private equity venture, picking an outsider to oversee investments and giving a rare look into its portfolio companies.
David Wertheimer, 38, whose father Gerard is one of the brothers behind the French luxury goods company, tapped David An to head investments at his Luxembourg-based 1686 Partners, according to An's LinkedIn profile. He was a Shanghai-based investor in fashion, beauty and sports at Sequoia Capital for four years through November, and prior to that a director at Cathay Capital.
