'Armor is meant to save lives, not sell lies. Consumers deserve to know that this type of equipment is going to provide the protection promised,' Yost said in a news release. Ohio cracking down on ‘shady' car dealerships
A half dozen car dealerships are facing lawsuits from Ohio Attorney General David Yost, according to a news release. The Attorney General's Office says the dealerships are accused of violating Ohio's consumer Sales Practices Act and the Certificate of Motor Vehicles Act. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The dealerships did not provide titles to dozens of cars after they were sold, according to the release. Car titles provide legal proof of who actually owns the car and you cannot register a vehicle without one. 'Buying a used car without knowing the dealer's reputation is a roll of the fuzzy dice. Reading online reviews and checking for a history of complaints could spare you the headache of a bad deal,' said Yost. Immigration officials raid Washington state roofing company and arrest over 3 dozen people
The people detained were taken away in two buses, Fuerte said, adding that he has never seen such a raid in his 12 years at the company. Advertisement ICE spokesperson David Yost said in a statement that the officers executed a federal search warrant 'based on an ongoing criminal investigation into the unlawful employment of aliens without legal work authorization in violation of federal law.' Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up The 37 people who were arrested had 'fraudulently represented their immigration status and submitted fraudulent documents and/or information to seek employment,' Yost said. Mt. Baker Roofing said in an afternoon statement that it was 'fully cooperating with the authorities while also ensuring that our employees are treated fairly and respectfully under the law.' ICE says it made 32,809 arrests in President Donald Trump's first 50 days in office. That was a daily average of 656, up from 311 during the 12-month period that ended Sept. 30. Such numbers, while higher than those seen during the Biden administration, are far from the mass deportations that Trump campaigned on. So far the president has avoided the large-scale factory and office raids that characterized his first term and that of a Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, but there have been scattered and smaller operations. Advertisement Criminal charges against business owners are extremely rare, though fines are common.

Ohio teachers retirement board reverses decision on Target lawsuit
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – The board of the Ohio State Teachers Retirement System has agreed to join a lawsuit against Target and DEI policies Attorney General David Yost said tanked the retailer's stock and ultimately impacted investors, including STRS. STRS had initially decided not to pursue the lawsuit and said it could still have benefitted from the class action lawsuit filed in Florida as an impacted party. STRS changed its course following a letter from Yost several days ago admonishing the board for declining his advice to be a lead plaintiff. Yost claims that Target's DEI policies violated securities rules and cost the STRS fund $5 million. The class action claims that Target violated federal securities laws when it 'misled' investors with false claims and misleading statements about its environment, social and governance (ESG), and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mandates. Yost added that national retailer engaged in several DEI and LBGTQ+initiatives that resulted in disastrous 'Pride Month' marketing that led to widespread customer boycotts that severely impacted Target and its stock price, 'wiping out an estimated $25 billion in market capitalization.' He also said that Target downplayed those market concerns to investors. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
