Suspicious lottery player didn't think her huge Virginia win was real. But it was
A Virginia lottery player stayed calm after scoring a huge jackpot prize because she didn't think it was real, lottery officials said.
'I didn't get excited,' Geraldine Davis-Hines told the Virginia Lottery. 'I didn't know if it was really true.'
Luckily, Davis-Hines' win wasn't a trick at all. She'd won a jackpot prize worth $383,307 in the Feb. 28 Cash 5 with EZ match drawing, lottery officials said in a March 25 news release.
Davis-Hines matched all five numbers, despite selecting them at random, according to the lottery.
The winning numbers were 9, 17, 32, 40 and 45, lottery officials said.
The odds of winning the progressive jackpot, which starts at $200,000, are 1 in 1,221,759, according to the lottery.
The next drawing is March 26 and the current jackpot is $562,000, according to the game's web page.
