Jacksonville City Council to honor former Action News Jax anchor Dawn Lopez
The Jacksonville City Council will honor former Action News Jax Anchor Dawn Lopez at its Tuesday night meeting. The council will introduce a resolution sponsored by City Councilman Rahman Johnson and co-sponsored by City Councilman Ken Amaro, City Councilwman JuCoby Pittman, and City Councilman Ron Salem. It's for 'her over two decades of dedicated service to journalism and the Jacksonville community as a morning anchor at Action News Jax and extending best wishes for her future endeavors.' 4th annual UNCF Mayor's Masked Ball in Jacksonville to support Edward Waters University
The 2025 United Negro College Fund's Mayor's Masked Ball, which supports Edward Waters University, will take place on Friday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. Former Action News Jax anchor Dawn Lopez will emcee the event, which is happening at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront. This gala supports UNCF's mission of investing in better futures. More than 500 corporate partners, educators, religious leaders, and community influencers are expected to attend, including Mayor Donna Deegan as the host, as well as President and CEO of Edward Waters University, A. Zachary Faison Jr., J.D. First Alert Weather: Comfortable temperatures with a warm peak Friday
This Thursday, the First Alert Weather Team is tracking some high, thin clouds in the area but still plenty of sun. In the afternoon, temperatures were in the low 60s at the beach and the low to mid 70s inland. A warm TGIF is on the way, with Friday forecasted to be the warmest day in more than two months. Highs will be around 80 degrees - the warmest since the week of Thanksgiving. There will be plenty of sun along with gusty winds out of the southwest. A weak cold front will move across the area Friday night through early Saturday along with a few light showers. While cooler Saturday, temperatures will still be above average with highs around 70-75. It will be a nice end to the weekend Sunday. Skies will be partly sunny & temperatures will be around 75 in the afternoon. Next week looks mostly dry with mild to warm temps.
