Diddy's Attorneys Ask Judge To Toss Kid Cudi Testimony Accusing Him Of 'Lying' About Porsche Bombing

Source: TIMOTHY A. CLARY / Getty Attorneys representing Sean 'Diddy' Combs are requesting that a judge toss a portion of the testimony given by rapper Kid Cudi, who made headlines after he was called as a witness in Diddy's sex trafficking and racketeering trial last week. Cudi, born Scott Mescudi, spoke in detail about an incident in 2012 in which his Porsche had been damaged while parked in his driveway by what he described as a Molotov cocktail. Cudi said he confronted Diddy, whom he believes is responsible for the destruction of his vehicle, but Combs denied being involved while 'standing there like a Marvel supervillain.' Cudi testified that the defendant was 'lying' about not knowing anything about the incident, and Diddy's lawyers want the comment stricken from the record. From Complex: After Judge Arun Subramanian overruled an objection from Combs' lawyer Brian Steel, Cudi went to say Diddy was 'lying.' Combs' legal team argues that Cudi's remark qualifies as an opinion, and Judge Subramanian should strike his testimony, as it pertains to the firebombing of his Porsche, from the record because it could potentially sway the jury. Prosecutors appear to be using the 2012 incident, among other instances, to support their argument that Combs was involved in a pattern of racketeering activity, which includes arson. According to Us Weekly, Steel previously claimed the DNA found on the car came from a female. Combs' defense team also pointed out that Cudi's previously 'admitted he had no personal knowledge 'that anybody affiliated with Mr. Combs was on or around [his] property at the time of the damage to [his] vehicle.'' Cudi testified that what happened to his Porsche was part of an ongoing harassment campaign that Diddy had embarked on over the 'Day 'n' Nite' rapper briefly dating Cassie Ventura, who also gave testimony regarding violent abuse she suffered at the hands of Diddy. Cudi said he was with Cassie one night in 2011, when Diddy's assistant called him to inform him they were inside his home. Cudi said when he got back to his house, no one was there, but he found that his dog had been locked in a bathroom, several gifts he bought for his family had been ripped open, and security cameras had been moved. Diddy Trial Live Updates Week 3: Former Assistant Continues Testimony

Originally appeared on E! Online The court is in session for the 11th day. After Capricorn Clark's explosive testimony against her former employer Sean 'Diddy' Combs at his sex trafficking trial, arson investigator Lance Jiminez shared his experience being dispatched to Kid Cudi's home in 2012 after his car caught fire, according to NBC News reporters in the courtroom. 'Dispatch said there was an auto fire in the driveway and we went to investigate like any investigation,' the Los Angeles Fire Department investigator told jurors May 28. 'The fire occurred in the car—burn patterns on the seats and center consoles. There was a bottle on the front seat and a handkerchief on the center console that was burned.' 'I look at different things that might have caused it,' he explained. 'The engine was not damaged. I looked at battery—nothing there. I ruled out certain things. I observed the bottle, smell of gasoline, liquid in the bottle and a handkerchief and made the observation that it was a Molotov cocktail.' More from E! Jiminez told prosecutors that there was 'a lot of heat damage' to the Porsche, but that the firebomb didn't cause 'extensive fire damage' because the 'cloth fell out and the bottle didn't break.' The official—who said he had investigated 1,200 or more fires since taking on his role in 2011—testified that if the bottle had broken and dispersed the gasoline, 'the foliage would have caught fire and could have caused the home to burn.' 'It was targeted from where it was located,' he said. 'There was another car that was not targeted in the driveway. The Porsche was close to the home and in an area where we do not see much crime.' Jiminez's testimony builds on Mescudi's allegations that his car was torched by Combs—who dated Ventura on and off from 2007 to 2018—after the Bad Boy Records founder allegedly broke into his home. Combs has not publicly addressed the alleged break-in or the car explosion. Combs has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking, prostitution, racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, as well as transportation to engage in prostitution. Diddy's Legal Team Wants Kid Cudi's Car Torching Testimony Thrown Out on The Grounds of Extreme C A P

Source: Getty Images / Bernard 'Beanz' Smalls / Kid Cudi / Diddy The legal team for Diddy, also known as Sean Combs, is seeking to have Kid Cudi's explosive testimony dismissed. It's no secret that the Diddy saga is a pure circus that not even Netflix or HBO could have dreamed of in terms of shenanigans following his arrest on racketeering and federal sex trafficking. One of the more eyebrow-raising claims is that Kid Cudi's Porsche was torched because of his relationship with Diddy's ex, Cassie Ventura. Lawyers for Diddy are asking the judge to dismiss Mr. Rager's testimony on the grounds of CAP, strictly based on his unconfirmed claim that the disgraced mogul lied about his involvement. During his testimony in Combs' federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial last week, Cudi spoke about meeting Diddy at Soho House after his car was set ablaze. Cudi's testimony provided the public with one of the more memorable statements when he hilariously said that Diddy was 'standing there like a Marvel supervillain.' Still, Diddy's team of lawyers believes the focus should be on discussion when Cudi was asked if he believed Diddy when the Bad Boy general said he didn't know anything about Cudi's whip being torched. After Judge Arun Subramanian overruled an objection from Combs' lawyer Brian Steel, Cudi went on to say that Diddy was 'lying.' As part of their argument to have Cudi's testimony thrown out, Comb's legal team argues that Cudi's claims qualify as an opinion and should be stricken from testimony because it is in reference to the 'Day 'n' Nite' crafter's firebombed vehicle and could sway the jury's opinion. Ye & Young Thug Were Not Fans of Kid Cudi Testifying Speaking of opinions, there are those within the Hip-Hop community who are not happy that Cudi testified against Combs. Taking time off from being an antisemtic douchebag, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, Ye, expressed disappointment in Cudi. 'I wish Cudi hadn't testified against Puff,' the problematic producer/rapper wrote on his X, formerly Twitter account, per HipHopDX . West continued, 'We need to not be locked in white systems. Praying for Puff and his family.' Ummm, ok. Young Thug also demonstrated why those in the Hip-Hop community continue to hold flawed logic regarding 'snitching.' The rapper, who recently returned home from a lengthy prison stint, wrote on X, 'Dam Cudi a rat lol.' SMH. Trust and believe if someone blows up our car and we knew who did it, we would be on the stand testifying too. Just saying. You can see more reactions in the gallery below. We Finally Have the Details Behind Diddy's Federal Kidnapping Charge, and They're Not For the Faint at Heart...

Sean 'Diddy' Combs' ex-assistant was next on the witness stand, and she didn't hold anything back. After being mentioned last week in rapper Scott 'Kid Cudi' Mescudi's testimony, Capricorn Clark took the stand Tuesday (May 27) to spill more tea on what she says she witnessed while working for the disgraced rapper. Clark was employed by Combs from 2004 to 2012, and according to her testimony, Diddy has a long history of violence towards his staff, including towards her. Other former employees of Combs have come out against the rapper, but Clark's new testimony Diddy added fuel to the fire. Under Diddy's slew of federal charges is an additional kidnapping accusation (formally under his racketeering charge). According to Clark, after threatening her and witnessing Diddy's treatment of Cassandra 'Cassie' Ventura, who alleged the rapper raped, beat and extorted her family, the former employee claimed she was kidnapped by Combs in 2011. The rocky relationship between Clark and Diddy began after he allegedly confronted her about not disclosing her former employee was Death Row CEO Suge Knight. Combs 'told me he didn't know that I had anything to do with Suge Knight and if anything happened he would have to kill me,' Clark testified. Just months after being hired by Combs, Clark told the court she was kidnapped by Combs and one of his bodyguards, Paul 'Uncle Paulie' Offord. That's when Diddy accused her of stealing jewelry from him and forced her to take a lie detector test five days straight. The man conducting the test allegedly told her ''if you fail this test, they're going to throw you in the East River,'' Clark recalled. Despite the alleged threats to her life, Clark continued working for Diddy, making $65,000 a year, according to her testimony. Eventually, the former employee revealed she developed alopecia— an immune disease causing hair loss— due to the stressful work environment. As we previously reported, Diddy was allegedly enraged after discovering Ventura's brief romantic relationship with Kid Cudi in 2011. According to Clark, the Bad Boy CEO took things out on her. ''Why didn't you tell me?'' Diddy alleged asked Clark, after showing up to her apartment to confront her about Cudi. Clark said Combs banged on her door around 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 22, 2011. He had a gun and looked 'furious,' she told the court. ''Get dressed, we're going to kill [him],'' Combs continued, according to Clark. Combs allegedly forced her into his Cadillac Escalade that morning and drove to Cudi's house. Clark said was able to get in touch with Ventura on her burner phone. After Diddy and Clark left Mescudi's home, Clark told the court she witnessed Diddy physically beat Cassie in retaliation to her romance with the 'Day 'n' Nite' rapper. Ventura was on the ground 'in full fetal position,' Clark claimed. 'She wasn't doing anything; she was crying silently.' Clark revealed she was too scared to call the police on Diddy, but she did call Ventura's mother. 'He's beating the s**t out of your daughter,' Clark alleged to Regina Ventura. 'I can't call the police, but you can… Please help her.' As The Root previously reported, Regina said Combs contacted her, demanding $20,000 in 'recoup money' for the funds he supposedly spent on Ventura. This led to Regina and her husband taking out a home equity loan to pay Combs. For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Sean "Diddy" Combs Trial Updates Week 3: Former Assistant Testifies

Originally appeared on E! Online Capricorn Clark has taken the stand. As day 10 of Sean 'Diddy' Combs' sex trafficking trial began May 27, the rap mogul's former assistant testified about her experience working for Combs on and off from 2004 to 2020, as well as her role as his ex Cassie Ventura's creative director until 2018, according to NBC News reporters in the courtroom. 'Anything that needed to be done was my job,' Clark told prosecutors. 'If I failed, I would lose my job—no breaks. On a good night, I got four hours of sleep; on a bad night, two hours of sleep.' She testified that she would work from 7 a.m. to 4 a.m., during which she would 'print documents, get his suits, do research, calls, get his food,' as well as packing his personal items for trips and preparing hotel rooms. Clark alleged that the stress from her role led her to suffer from 'stress-induced' alopecia. More from E! 'He came at her 100 percent full force,' she testified, noting that Ventura—who dated Combs on and off from 2007 to 2018—was crying silently as he attacked her. 'He repeatedly kicked her. Each kick, she would crouch more and more into a fetal position.' She recalled hearing Combs—whose attack came after he allegedly broke into Mescudi's home, which the 'Day 'n' Nite' rapper testified to last week—still kicking Ventura as she left the rental home, adding, 'He said if I jump in, he was going to f--k me up too.' Clark—who testified that she helped Ventura buy a burner phone for her relationship with Mescudi out of fear for her safety—said that she didn't call the authorities, but rang up Ventura's mom, , during the incident. 'I told her mom I said, 'He's beating the shit out of your daughter,'' she explained to jurors. ''I'm in over my head. Please help her. I can't call the police, but you can.' She said, 'I'll handle it,' and we hung up.' Combs has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking, prostitution, racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, as well as transportation to engage in prostitution. She alleged that Combs had fired her in 2012 for not telling him about Ventura and Mescudi's relationship, arguing that she 'lost everything,' including her health insurance, 401(k) retirement savings, her car and her credit cards. 'He said I would never work again and all these people weren't my friends,' she said. ' He would make me kill myself.' For more bombshells in Diddy's trial, keep reading.
