EXCLUSIVE Lorraine Kelly refused 'insulting' offer from ITV bosses to merge her show with Good Morning Britain - with star poised to QUIT next year

Lorraine Kelly was given the chance by ITV bosses to merge her daytime show with Good Morning Britain to present the last 30 minutes of their broadcast, but she declined. The TV veteran, 65, was pulled into a meeting prior to the channel's budget cuts announcement last week where she was offered the new proposal, which was considered an 'easy fix' after the same format was adopted during the pandemic. Sources have revealed that Lorraine was 'insulted' by the suggestion and told bigwigs it wasn't a possibility, resulting in the reduced runtime of her show from an hour to 30 minutes. MailOnline understands that Lorraine, who has presented her show for the past 14 years, was prepared to 'walk away' but agreed to continue hosting the series until the end of 2026. The star is predicted to quit for good next year after a new role titled 'Head of Lorraine' was created to oversee the changes, but the contract is only for a 12-month period. Last week, ITV confirmed that ITN is taking over the output of Good Morning Britain while Lorraine and Loose Women will only air 30 weeks per year and are moving from Television Centre to a central London studio. A show insider revealed: 'Lorraine was pulled into a meeting with bosses where she was told about Good Morning Britain being taken over by ITN ahead of the public announcement. 'It was proposed that her show would merge with GMB so that she presented the last 30 minutes of the broadcast, which is what happened when a reduced team were working during lockdown. 'But she told them no and said it wasn't even a possibility... fast-forwarded two weeks and the channel announced her show would be cut from an hour to 30 minutes... 'The entire thing has been an insult and she's certain to leave when the year-long contract ends.' On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women will relocate from Television Centre to a new filming location, where they plan to share the same studio. MailOnline revealed the reality of cutbacks to This Morning last week, which will result in massive changes to the show's current format. And now insiders say there will be limited time between each show so changing the sets may not be an option, as the output of the programmes will likely suffer. A source added: 'In January, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women are moving from Television Centre to a central London location, rumoured to be the Hospital Club in Covent Garden. Lorraine has presented her TV show for the past 14 years and will continue to front the programme until 2026 but her future beyond then remains uncertain 'All three shows will share the same studio, meaning sets will be massively reduced to save space and money. 'At present, This Morning broadcasts from a huge studio within Television Centre and Lorraine and Loose Women share one space. 'Lorraine's set is flipped once they come off air and Loose Women is put in but the new set up is thought to involve all the shows sharing one space with no set flips in between.' A source close to ITV said: 'We were very open about the challenges in the industry and so several options were discussed, the key was ensuring Lorraine was retained and was as comfortable as possible in a changing landscape. 'Her show is still hugely valued, Lorraine recently had its highest audience share in four years and still reaches 2.7 million people.' It was reported by the Sun on Sunday that Susanna Reid, 54, is negotiating a new longer-term two-year contract to become a face of the network while co-host Richard Madeley fought to stay on the series. It's believed the former This Morning presenter faced the axe from his breakfast show job before a showdown with bosses left him with a part-time deal.

Peter Andre in a blackface row? He has to pay the rent somehow

Good day, dearest Times reader — and welcome to the week where yet more twists and turns were revealed in the enduring saga of The Divorce of Daytime TV Mum & Dad, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford. As longtime followers of this dying love will recall, the former This Morning couple Ruth and Eamonn separated last year, after Eamonn's legs (briefly) stopped working and he then started dating a woman 22 years younger than him who specialises in counselling couples over 'affairs and betrayals'. Which I guess was … handy. Ruth then followed all the classic stages of Middle-Aged Divorce Grief: a glamorous new blonde hairdo, followed by photos on Instagram of a beach holiday with her girlfriends, drinking champagne and looking very jolly. •

Lorraine Kelly shares upbeat update from her home as it's revealed her show is being downsized in shock ITV move

LORRAINE Kelly shared a fresh health update today as ITV bosses confirmed her morning show is being halved in a Daytime shake-up. The beloved host, who underwent surgery earlier this month, has yet to comment directly on the news. 5 5 5 However, the ITV veteran, 65, put on a brave face as she relaxed in her garden in photos on Instagram. She said in an upbeat message to fans, shortly before the announcement: 'The sun is shining, I'm on the mend, and it feels so good to be getting back in the garden. 'This floral blouse and cropped trousers from my #LorraineLoves collection with @Bonmarche are just the thing.' While she was soaking up the sunshine, ITV bosses unveiled sweeping changes that will see her show slashed to just 30 minutes a day and on only for part of the year. ITV confirmed in a dramatic statement that from January 2026, the show will air 9.30am to 10am, and only for 30 weeks a year. The move comes as part of a major overhaul of ITV's Daytime schedule, which will also see Good Morning Britain extended to 9.30am and produced by ITV News at ITN. This Morning and Loose Women will continue but share production resources in a cost-cutting blitz. The changes mean fewer appearances from Lorraine, who has hosted her self-titled programme since 2010, and follows speculation about her future on the channel. ITV says savings made will go into dramas and major sporting events, including the next football World Cup. Kevin Lygo, ITV's head of telly, said: 'These changes allow us to reinvest across our programming and continue delivering the shows viewers love.' HEALTH WOES Lorraine underwent 'preventative' surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes. After a brief recovery period, she was back on our screens on Monday. The telly host assured fans her recovery was going smoothly after she underwent keyhole surgery on an ovarian cyst earlier this month. She said: "It was keyhole surgery to get rid of my ovaries and fallopian tubes. Keyhole is amazing. I've got three new holes in my body, all healing beautifully." Lorraine also explained how she first discovered the issue. She revealed: "Back in January I was coming back from India, and on the flight I had terrible, terrible pain, and it was a cyst that had burst, an ovarian cyst that had burst." After a scan, doctors clocked that one of her ovaries looked "a bit dodgy" and recommended they were removed as a precaution. The presenter spent a night at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot, Berkshire. She said: "When I went home, Steve (her husband) had to do everything. I'm not allowed to hoover, I'm not allowed to lift anything." But despite the pain, she enjoyed her time off, spending time with her new granddaughter Billie. She said: "But, you know, there's (Billie) the best medicine in the world, that is the best medicine. Even though I can't lift her, I can cuddle her." 5 5

Huge ITV shake-up as bosses make major changes to Lorraine, GMB and Loose Women after crisis talks

ITV has announced a major shake-up to the channel's Daytime output with Lorraine episodes slashed by 30 minutes and Good Morning Britain extended. A meeting was held this afternoon in which production teams and talent were updated on the plans. 4 Lorraine, which is fronted by Lorraine Kelly, will run daily from 9.30am until 10am for 30 weeks of the year, a change from its current 9am to 10am slot. While GMB will run from 6am until 9.30am, extending its current slot of 6am until 9am. It will be produced by a dedicated team within ITV News at ITN. On days when Lorraine is off air, GMB's broadcast will be extended until 10am. Fellow ITV Daytime shows This Morning and Loose Women, along with Lorraine, will be made by ITV Studios and broadcast from a new location in central London. This Morning and Loose Women are unaffected by the scheduling changes and remain in their regular slots of 10.30am to 12.30pm and 12.30pm to 1.30pm, respectively. While on-screen talent will remain secure in their roles, some production staff will be victims of the reshuffle. Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV's Media and Entertainment Division, said: 'Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres. 'These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever.' It is hoped the changes will help fund award-winning agenda-setting dramas like Mr Bates vs The Post Office and coverage of sporting competitions like the 2026 Fifa World Cup. The reshuffle comes amid a desperate cost-cutting drive at the broadcaster. Earlier this year, ITV announced it would be slashing its soap schedule to try and make savings on Coronation Street and Emmerdale. From January 2026, the two serial dramas will air as 30-minute episodes to create a soap 'power hour' from Monday-Friday. There has also been the suggestion the channel is considering offers from RedBird IMI and Banijay for its ITV Studios arm, which makes everything from Love Island to Rivals. Defending the share price at last week's AGM, ITV chairman Andrew Cosslett responded to questions about a looming deal. He said: 'If someone approaches the company with an offer to talk, that's something we have to take seriously because we're representing your interests. 'And it's very clear from the room that there is a high level of interest in the share price and the value of the business. 'So we have to accommodate any requests and conversations that take place. 'But our current strategy is very clear and it's making the best of what we have in combination.' 4
