2 injured in Daytona Beach crash after car drives into woods, officials say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Two people were injured after a car accident that caused a vehicle to travel 50 yards from the road and into the woods on Saturday afternoon in Daytona Beach, officials say. What we know Just before noon on Saturday, Daytona Beach Fire Department (DBFD) units responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Tomoka Farms Road and Dunn Avenue. When crews arrived at the scene of the accident, they found an SUV approximately 50 yards from the road in the woods. Officials say one person was trapped inside. Firefighters immediately stabilized the vehicle and began extrication and patient care. Two patients were taken to the hospital by Volusia County EMS. Officials say one of those patients was declared a trauma alert. What we don't know The identities of the two people in the car accident and their current medical status have not yet been released. Investigators have not yet shared any details on what led to the crash. What's next The Daytona Beach Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. Wildfires break out across Volusia County as drought continues; several agencies responding

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - Multiple agencies are currently responding to several wildfires that have broken out across Volusia County. Authorities are currently reporting three small fires in the area. Officials said there are no homes in danger, and the fires are nearing containment. What we know The Volusia County Professional Firefighters Association shared an alert on its social media pages about the fires around 4:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Authorities said the three small fires are burning along U.S. 92 between DeLand and Daytona Beach. The fires are located at: Tomoka Farms Road and Halifax, west of Daytona Beach Interstate 95 and U.S. 92, west of Daytona Beach U.S. 92 and West Parkway, near DeLand The Daytona Beach Fire Department has identified one of the fires as a cell tower fire in the area of 1600 West International Speedway Boulevard. Officials said the fire is three acres in size, and three commercial structures were at risk and evacuated. No injuries have been reported. What we don't know It is currently unclear how large the three fires are and when exactly they broke out.
