Celebrity Traitors star teases ‘friendships went out the window' during filming
A star of the upcoming Celebrity Traitors series has said 'friendships went out the window' during the intense BBC gameshow. The hugely popular reality series, which started in 2022, sees two-dozen contestants aiming to be the last one standing in order to win a huge cash prize. Each of the show's hopefuls is chosen to be either a Faithful or a Traitor, with the identity of the three Traitors unknown to the Faithfuls at first. It's up to the Faithfuls to complete tasks and rat out the Traitors before the Traitors – if they're still in play – steal the money as a group at the end of the game. The series, based on Dutch show De Verraders, has proved to be one of the biggest new reality concepts in years and has already spawned a celebrity version. And the line-up looks absolutely stellar, including dozens of famous faces like Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, Sir Stephen Fry, Paloma Faith, Tom Daley, Kate Garraway, and so many more. Among them is sports presenter Clare Balding, who is one of 19 faces that headed to Ardross Castle in northern Scotland to film for the series. She admitted that lots of old friendships which have withstood years in the TV and entertainment industry didn't last long once the game was underway. Obviously, I knew quite a lot of them before I went in, but the friendships you had before go out the window! 'That, for me, is very challenging because I like to be friends with everyone. It's brutal, but I think I'm glad I did it. It will make good TV, and there are some really strong moments.' Alan Carr Cat Burns Celia Imrie Charlotte Church Clare Balding David Olusoga Joe Marler Joe Wilkinson Jonathan Ross Kate Garraway Lucy Beaumont Mark Bonnar Nick Mohammed Niko Omilana Paloma Faith Ruth Codd Sir Stephen Fry Tameka Empson Tom Daley However, while some friendships were cast aside, Clare has excitedly revealed that she made lots of new ones during her time filming in Ross and Cromarty. 'It was lovely to get more time to hang out with people like Stephen Fry, Celia Imrie, Charlotte Church, who's an absolute superstar, and a really cool young singer called Cat Burns.' More Trending In the interview, Clare, who has hosted horse racing and Olympics coverage for years, said she has made sure to watch all seasons of the civilian Traitors thus far. And it seems she's become a massive fan, jumping at the chance to appear on the Celebrity Traitors when the call came. 'I wanted to do it because I wanted to experience the show, and I was really lucky they said yes to letting me. I think I was one of the first ones signed up, actually, me and Stephen Fry.' Zac Efron's Brother, Dylan, Shared What He Really Thinks About Showers, And The Internet Has Thoughts
So, Dylan Efron is Zac Efron's equally attractive little brother. He's recently gained a lot of attention because he is currently on Peacock's The Traitors, a reality TV show based on the Dutch series De Verraders. Dylan, along with a bunch of Real Housewives, former contestants from Survivor, Big Brother, The Challenge, and, believe it or not, Tom Sandoval, compete in a game akin to Mafia or Clue to banish contestants to figure out who is secretly the traitors murdering everyone. Dylan's become somewhat of a fan favorite, perhaps due to his boyish charm or the fact that he's literally one of the only contestants without a history of gossip, betrayal, and reality TV treachery. In an interview with Are You Okay, Dylan answered a few rapid-fire queries, and it appears that once beloved innocence is going into question after his answer about taking showers. Staying on brand for the adorable dude next door, Dylan answered that his most controversial food opinion is that he doesn't like croissants and that watching sunsets is completely underrated. Then, host Brianna Morales asked him what was overrated. Answering the question of what is overrated to you, Dylan said, "I think people shower too much." And he doubled down on his answer that we collectively "take to showers." Based on his interview response, taking a bunch of showers every week is not Dylan's ministry. He has a different solution. "I go in the pool a lot," he said. "There's chlorine. It's killing everything." When Brianna said that's not the same as actually scrubbing your body, Dylan responded, "We don't need to soap our bodies every time we're in the shower either. That's way too much." "His take on sunsets is absolutely beautiful… but he still lost me at the chlorine bit 😅😭," one person wrote. Someone else suggested, "Every other day is okay. But he's definitely the type that hit the gym then goes straight out to diner plans." "Well if we all looked like this we wouldn't shower either Dylan!!! Also as a college swimmer, if you didn't shower you'd smell like a Chlorox box and your hair would turn a straw whitem" another person wrote. This person said, "For the last, stop giving these people a platform to talk about terrible hygiene. Bring shame back." All stank booty allegations aside, I think Dylan is a huge green flag, so not too much on him, unless it's bodywash. You know what? Maybe we do waste a lot of water, or maybe I'm just really thirsty.

BBC accused of poaching Traitors concept by Agatha Christie's great-grandson
The concept behind the BBC deception gameshow The Traitors was taken from Agatha Christie's murder mysteries, the author's great-grandson has claimed. TV and film producer James Prichard, the chairman of Agatha Christie Limited – the company managing the literary and media rights to her work – believes that the 'brilliant' reality show is inspired by Chirstie's famous 1939 mystery novel And Then There Were None. In a new interview with Radio Times, Prichard said: 'It's absolutely based on an Agatha Christie murder-mystery concept.' "At the beginning of the series, they're on the train. They've got the board with all the faces being picked off, one by one. They've got the library, it's everything Agatha Christie. It's And Then There Were None in lots of ways." The award-winning series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, sees a group of 22 contestants arrive at a 19th-century Scottish Baronial-style castle where they are secretly split into two camps. A small number are the 'traitors', who must work together to 'murder' their fellow contestants, called 'faithfuls', while their identities remain undetected. The aim of the game is to successfully identify other contestants' status in the game and root them out – or hide in plain sight – to make it through to the final, where a £120,000 prize pot is available. Christie's 1939 novel has parallels to the show, since it follows 10 strangers who are invited by a mysterious host to an isolated island with an unknown killer living among them. They are killed one by one, while those who remain must work out the identity of the murderer. The Traitors also includes tropes prominent in Christie's stories, such as a grand library and a luxury train carrying a group of passengers. Prichard said: 'There's a recognition amongst a lot of the crime-writing fraternity that my great-grandmother is an inspiration. It's great. I love that murder mystery is growing in popularity.' However, the show is based on the Dutch reality show format, originally known as De Verraders in its native language. De Verraders, which first aired in 2021, was inspired by the story of a real-life mutiny onboard a 17th-century Dutch ship, the Batavia, that was wrecked off the coast of Australia in 1629. The surviving passengers the split into faction, killing each other after anarchy broke out among them when they were shipwrecked on land that had no food or drinking water. The Dutch show was originally planned to be filmed on a large ship, before producers settled on a castle. Jasper Hoogendoorn, the programme's developer, said at the Edinburgh TV festival in 2023: 'It's a story about people who murder each other, backstab each other, betray each other. It's a horrible story. But it was such a fascinating story and I was thinking it's also exciting.' The Traitors has since become a global hit, with three series of the British version presented by Winkleman (launched in 2022), an Australian edition presented by Rodger Corser (2023), and a celebrity Traitors US version hosted by Alan Cumming (2023). The show's format also has parallels with the party game known as Werewolf or Mafia, a social deduction game wherein players are secretly assigned roles as werewolves or villagers. The werewolves can kill other players, while during the day, players debate and vote to eliminate a suspect.
