Former Georgia star DB named to All-UFL team Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Deandre Baker is having an outstanding season as he hopes to earn another NFL opportunity. Baker is making a significant impact with DC Defenders in the United Football League (UFL). His excellent season earned him All-UFL honors. Baker is one of four DC Defenders to make the All-UFL defense. Baker proved himself to be among the elite cornerbacks in the UFL. He finished the regular season with 22 total tackles (four tackles for a loss), two interceptions and 10 pass breakups in eight games. Baker's top play of the season came in the form of a game-clinching interception with under five seconds left in the game. Baker's interception clinched a playoff berth for the Defenders, who finished the regular season with a 6-4 record. Baker is a former New York Giants 2019 first-round NFL draft pick, but has not played in the NFL since the 2021 season with the Kansas City Chiefs. Baker has battled several serious injuries throughout his career including suffering a broken left femur in Jan. 2021. The former UGA standout tried out with the Dallas Cowboys last offseason, but he failed to make the Cowboys' roster. Former Georgia kicker Rodrigo Blankenship, another All-UFL selection, and the St. Louis Battlehawks will play the DC Defenders in the playoffs on Sunday, June 8 at 6:00 p.m. ET (televised on FOX).

Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Deandre Baker is making a big impact in the United Football League in hopes of drawing attention from NFL teams. Baker made a game-clinching interception for the DC Defenders in hid most recent game. Baker's interception came with under five seconds left in the game. With the Arlington Renegades driving into DC Defenders territory, Renegades quarterback Luis Perez tried to complete a pass along the sideline to get a few more yards deeper into field goal range. Baker knew the situation he was facing. The Renegades were out of timeouts, so he knew they had to work the boundary. He jumped the route and intercepted the ball to secure a 33-30 win for the Defenders. Baker and the Defenders are now 6-2 this regular season. Baker, a former 2019 first-round NFL draft pick, has not played in the NFL since the 2021 season with the Kansas City Chiefs.
