Olly Murs makes defiant return to the stage after being forced to axe gigs
Olly Murs is back in action after an unexpected bout of illness forced him to cancel a string of shows. The pop star, 41, has been performing across the country with his 15 Years of Hits Tour, supported by boy band Blue and celebrating his music career since rising to fame on The X Factor in 2009. However, disaster struck on Thursday night when Olly had to abandon his gig in Glasgow midway through, having performed for just 20 minutes before making a crushing announcement to the packed arena. The Dear Darlin' hitmaker told the crowd: 'My voice has gone.' Just after battling through Kiss Me Like You Mean It, he explained to the OVO Hydro crowd: 'This has never happened to me before, but you can hear my voice is going.' Olly apologised profusely, promising refunds and admitting he wouldn't want to carry on and risk 'ruining' the show for those who paid to see him. 'I have contracted a respiratory infection and have been instructed to go on a strict 48 hour voice rest by the doctor to ensure no further damage to my vocal chords [sic]', his caption read. 'I've been having the best time on this tour and I'm so sorry to let my fans down, I'm hoping to be fighting fit in a few days to finish this amazing 15 year celebratory tour with a bang.' Stars including Alexandra Burke and Duncan James wished Olly well after he admitted scrapping his gigs was 'hurting big time' since he loves performing so much. But thankfully, tonight he was back with a vengeance, having teased the gig in the iconic venue hours earlier on social media. 'Obviously, it's not been great, but I've been voice-resting, I've been dosing up on all my tablets, and getting as much into me as possible, all my vitamins, and I've just completed soundcheck, everything's sounding great, I'm feeling great, and I'm back in this gorgeous arena, arguably one of the best in the world. The Troublemaker singer will now be hoping to maintain his tip-top health to complete a run of summer shows, performing in Brighton next week before upcoming gigs at various festivals. He previously took on a tough training regime ahead of the tour, telling wife Amelia – who is pregnant with their second child together – that he wanted to get into the 'best shape of his life' before hitting the road. Olly Murs abandons Glasgow concert over voice struggles
Singer Olly Murs has walked off stage at his show in Glasgow amid struggles with his voice. The Troublemaker singer left the Ovo Hydro venue just six songs into his set on Thursday night. In a video posted to Instagram stories, the 41-year-old offered his audience an apology "from the bottom of my heart", telling fans he was "so sorry". "I've never done this in 15 years," he said. "Most of the time, as singers, you can get through it if your voice is not 100%. "I walked out tonight thinking my voice is great, maybe felt a little bit run down. But I didn't think I couldn't do the show or I wouldn't have come out otherwise." The Up singer said he would see a doctor later that evening ahead of shows in Manchester, Birmingham and London over the weekend. "It's unfair for you guys who spent all that money to come and see me, you deserve the best show," he said. "Hopefully, I can recover from this." The Essex-born singer rose to prominence on the sixth series of the X-Factor in 2009. His self-titled debut album, released the following year, was certified double platinum. Murs's most recent album, Marry Me, was released in 2022. The Dear Darlin' singer is set to play at The Marquee in Cork on Sunday July 13. He played in Dublin's 3Arena last month.

Olly Murs abandons live show just 20 minutes in: 'I can't go on'
Olly Murs left the stage after just five songs tonight, telling the packed arena that he 'couldn't go on' due to ill health. The 2009 X Factor star has been performing across the country with his 15 Years of Hits tour, supported by boyband Blue. Olly, 41, is famous for his energetic concerts, bursting with cheeky dance moves and all his upbeat tunes, from Dance With Me Tonight to Troublemaker. However, while on stage in Glasgow, Scotland, this evening, he had to make an unfortunate announcement just 20 minutes into the gig. In footage obtained by The Sun, the Dear Darlin' hitmaker can be heard telling the sold-out venue: 'My voice has gone.' Just after battling through Kiss Me Like You Mean It, he explained to the OVO Hydro crowd: 'This has never happened to me before, but you can hear my voice is going. 'I wouldn't wanna continue on and just ruin it for you guys because it's a really great show. I'm really proud of this whole production and how it's looking, how it's sounding, and for some reason, five songs in, my voice is going. 'That's so unlike me, so I just wanna say sorry from the bottom of my heart.' Olly continued: 'I don't wanna upset you guys; I'm so sorry. 'We'll sort out refunds for anyone that's unhappy, but Glasgow, I will be back to see you guys soon. I'm so sorry. I'll see you soon. I love you all.' 'That's the best I can do, so sorry,' he concluded, the audience applauding while he left backstage. Thousands of fans paid upwards of £57 for tickets to Olly's show, which marked his second night at the venue before playing in Manchester tomorrow. One crestfallen fan told the Scottish Sun after his exit: 'We were just getting into it after catching Blue as the support act. 'He sang five songs, then suddenly stopped. He said he'd figure something out, but before we knew it, we were being told to leave. 'There was still at least an hour left—now we don't know what to do with ourselves!' Taking to social media after news of Olly's premature departure began circulating, other fans didn't seem hopeful about his tour continuing, with dates also scheduled for Birmingham, London, and Brighton over the coming days. 'Won't be seeing Olly Murs on Sunday I fear', wrote @cloe_elizabeth1 on X. 'I'm legit so worried! Hope he is ok through. Been to every tour in the last 15 years!', replied @AmyPMarie. Unfortunately, this is the second time Olly's tour has been struck by sickness, as the singer had to cancel two shows last month when a stomach bug 'ripped through' his band. He was also forced to scrap a gig in Dubai in February due to a throat infection, which struck him down at the last minute, and had to be replaced as Take That's opener last spring. Olly, who is currently expecting a second child with wife Amelia Tank, worked hard to get in tip-top shape ahead of touring. Olly Murs debuts unreal image transformation after announcing baby news
As he gears up to become a dad for the second time, pop star Olly Murs has been hard at work in the gym. The Dear Darlin' hitmaker recently announced that he and wife Amelia are expecting another baby together. Olly, 40, and Amelia, 32, welcomed daughter Madison last May, with the X Factor alum sharing on Good Friday that their firstborn is to become a big sister later this year. But in the meantime, Olly has a nationwide tour to complete, performing to thousands of fans with his impressive discography of hits. In preparation for the gigs, which begin in Plymouth this week and end in London next month, the Troublemaker singer has been working hard on his physique.
