Goddess and the Grocer opens new Gold Coast café
A new Goddess has come to town. The cafe's fourth location opens Thursday with an expanded menu, a wood-fired oven and a large selection of unique homewares.
The vibe: All-day cafe with pastries and coffee that transitions into more substantial fare and wine in the evening.
Best bites: Goddess' pastries and desserts, including their well-known rainbow cake, are big draws but the smoked salmon breakfast club sandwich is tasty for any time of day.
If you go: The housewares section is like a museum gift shop. Find cheeky "Emily in Paris"-themed candles, pasta that looks like different hair styles, and cards with funny messages like, "Thanks for the orgasms."
The intrigue: Owner Debbie Sharpe has been a chef for bands for decades and one of the walls is plastered with images of clients including Duran Duran, Rod Stewart, Cyndi Lauper and more.
Stop by: Goddess and the Grocer in the Gold Coast is located at 845 N. State St. It replaces a smaller location that was just north at Cedar and State streets.
