Southern Municipality clears 700 unlicensed bins
Municipal workers have removed 700 unauthorised collection bins across the Southern Governorate, saying they were cluttering streets and blocking views.
The sweep, carried out with the municipal council, targeted collection points for plastic, paper, and clothing that had been set up without approval.
Authorities said the move was aimed at stopping bins from being scattered about without order, as they often end up blocking sightlines, getting in the way of traffic, and causing trouble for pedestrians.
Public tidiness
The clean-up was done in coordination with other service agencies to keep things in line with local rules on public tidiness.
The municipality urged people to stick to the rules laid out in Decree No. (10) of 2019, which covers public cleanliness.
The law sets down how waste should be sorted and collected to allow for recycling and requires bins to be placed in set locations and kept tidy.
Waste disposal
Licensed firms may handle waste disposal under conditions set out in the law's detailed rules. The campaign also follows Law No. (2) of 1996, which bars leaving goods, furniture, tables, boxes, or kiosks on public roads without approval.
The municipality called on charities and social groups to work with them to organise colA clean-up campaign in progress lection efforts properly.
