Deepinder Goyal rubbished claims of Zomato losing market share while forcing employees to stick to their food ordering service.
Zomato co-founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal has rubbished the now-viral claims about his company's internal issues. A Reddit user recently posted about Zomato losing market share and slowly descending into complete chaos. He talked about how employees working for the online food ordering and delivery platform suffered from inconsistent culture and toxicity. Deepinder refuted these bombshell allegations on X (formerly Twitter). 'All of this – is utter nonsense," he wrote. 'It is embarrassing to even clarify this – but doing it since many people reached out to me with concern. And thanks everybody for your concern.. appreciate it," he added.
All of this – – is utter nonsense. Neither are we losing market share, nor will we ever force our employees to order on Zomato. Freedom of choice is something we stand for vehemently.

In the Reddit post, the user talked about how Zomato employees were forced to order from their platform. He added that they were banned from using any service provided by their competitors, like Swiggy and Zepto. 'In a recent internal huddle, leadership admitted we're losing a good chunk of the market share to Zepto Cafe and Swiggy. The reaction? Panic and ridiculous new rules. One of them: employees must order from Zomato at least seven times a month, and yes, they'll track it. Ordering from competitors is outright banned in the office," read the post shared on the subreddit StartUpIndia.
Deepinder Goyal labelled these allegations as completely false. The Zomato CEO claimed his company's employees were free to use any service they wanted. 'Neither are we losing market share, nor will we ever force our employees to order on Zomato. Freedom of choice is something we stand for vehemently," he added in his post.
The Reddit post further stated that one of Zomato's biggest crises was around delivery partners. The user claimed the delivery boys were being paid significantly less than the competition while being overworked. In the same post, he discussed how restaurant partners were also frustrated with Zomato's policies. The user believed they were being pushed into spending money on ads to maintain visibility without receiving any form of support.
There has been a lot of talk around Zomato recently, especially after multiple speculations around the future of Rakesh Rajan were made. It was reported that the CEO of food delivery at Eternal (Zomato's parent) had stepped down from his position after a market share decline. This reshuffle reflected the company's efforts to address the ongoing challenges while optimising its leadership structure.
