Cannoneers take the win & head to NJCAA Women's Basketball National Championship

Jefferson Community College's Cannoneers are headed to the 2025 NJCAA Women's Basketball National Championship Game for the first time since 1999. The Cannoneers won Friday's game against Minnesota West Community College 66 to 60. JCC's Delaney Wiley led with 18 points followed by LaKaiya Butcher with 17 points and Kori Nichols with 15 points. JCC scored 11 points in the first quarter trailing behind by 5. They dubbed their points in quarter 2 earning 22 points for a total of 33. The teams were tied for points in the third quarter earning 17 each, JCC was trailing behind by one point overall as they entered the fourth quarter. Jefferson CC women's hoops advances to NJCAA Division III Final Four

ROCHESTER, Minn. (WWTI) – The dream run continues for the Jefferson Community College women's basketball team. The No. 10 seeded Cannoneers rallied to advance to the NJCAA Division III semifinals with a 79-73 double-overtime victory over second-seeded Hostos Community College Thursday at the Rochester Regional Sports Center. Jefferson CC women's basketball advances to NJCAA quarterfinals LaKaiya Butcher led JCC with 19 points while former Thousand Islands standout Delaney Wiley added 17 points. Former Ogdensburg Free Academy star Abby Raven posted a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds while former General Brown product Kori Nichols collected 15 points. Daja White paced Hostos CC with 19 points while Sandra Asamoah chipped in 17 points. JCC was down 10 points at halftime, but managed to chip away in the second half before forcing overtime. The Cannoneers eventually took advantage in the second overtime to get the win. Jefferson now takes on third-seeded Minnesota West Community College in a national semifinal at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
