Watch the video here: Recently, reports claimed that Sonu Nigam was pelted with stones and water bottles during his performance at Delhi Technological University's fest, Engifest 2025. However, the singer has now denied these claims. Taking to Instagram, he clarified that only a vape was thrown on stage, which led him to pause the show and warn the audience that he would stop performing if it happened again. In a humourous twist, someone also tossed a bunny-ear hairband — which Sonu playfully called a 'pookie band" — and he happily wore it while continuing his performance. He even shared a photo of himself singing with the hairband on his head. In the caption, the singer wrote, 'Nothing like hurling of stones or bottles as mentioned in some media happened at DTU. There was one Vape thrown by someone on stage that hit Subhankar's chest and that's when I was informed about it. I paused the show and requested and reminded the collegians that the show will have to be abruptly stopped if something like that happened again. The only thing hurled on stage after that, was the Pookie band. Which was really Pookie." First Published:

Persistence pays off for Alfred Thomas, who secures 33rd rank in Civil Services Examination
When the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the list of rank-holders for the Civil Services Examination 2024 on Tuesday, Alfred Thomas from Pala, Kottayam, was in for a heartening surprise. After years of relentless effort, the 29-year-old has finally found his name on the coveted list with an impressive 33rd rank. 'I made it to the interview stage last time but couldn't get through to the final list. It was disheartening but the unwavering support of my family kept me focused on my goal for one more try,' says the youngster, still soaking in the moment. A BTech graduate from Delhi Technological University, the journey of the Civil Services began for Alfred before he completed his engineering degree. With a clear vision of what he wanted, he plunged into full-time preparation soon after graduation. His first four attempts did not yield success, but instead of discouraging him, they only strengthened his resolve. 'Patience, focus, and my family's support made all the difference,' he said. Even when his parents returned to Kerala two years ago, Alfred chose to stay back in Delhi and dedicated himself fully to his preparation. After falling short in the interview round the previous time, he took a break for a year and enrolled in a residential coaching programme at Jamia Millia Islamia University. 'That year away and atmosphere at the coaching centre have helped me reset, refocus and come back stronger,' Alfred adds. His father, Thomas Antony, worked as a freelance consultant in Delhi, while his mother, Tessy Thomas, was a teacher. His younger sister, Angela, is currently pursuing CA articleship. With the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) as his top choice, Alfred now looks forward to serving the nation as a top bureaucrat.
