Delta Air Lines is Changing Boarding Times for Delta 360s
Delta Air Lines is one of the biggest airlines in the United States, and as with many of the major airlines, Delta offers special perks to certain passengers.
One of the airline's programs with perks is SkyMiles, which lets travelers earn miles on flights and everyday purchases, which can then be redeemed for rewards, such as special upgrades and new flights. Another one of Delta's loyalty programs is Delta 360, which is extra elite because it's considered the airline's top-tier program and is invite-only. When it comes to Delta 360, it's similar to American Airlines' Concierge Key level and United Airlines' Global Services.
But, members of that elite Delta 360 club are getting downgraded a bit.
In May 2024, Delta started pre-boarding for its Delta 360 members, which was a new perk. So, from May 2024 until now, pre-boarding has been available to Delta 360 members, as well as customers needing extra time and assistance and active military members.
But, that's about to change, because beginning on May 16, 2025, Delta 360 members will have to board in Zone 2, with Diamond Medallion members, following first class.
"The airline hasn't given any reason for this policy change, other than to say that pre-boarding is being reserved for those who need extra time, and active duty military," notes Ben Schlappig of One Mile at a Time, who broke the news.
When asked about the change, a company spokesperson told The Points Guy, "At Delta we regularly refine our boarding processes to ensure a more seamless and efficient experience for all customers." According to The Points Guy, "Delta also said the vast majority of Delta 360 members fly first class or Delta One and board in Zone 1 anyway, so the impact of this adjustment is very minor."
So, starting on May 16, pre-boarding will only be available for those needing extra time and active-duty military members.
