Police investigating two homicides overnight Sunday in Oklahoma City

Police are investigating two recent homicides that occurred during the overnight hours in separate parts of Oklahoma City. Shortly after 2:40 a.m. Monday, May 12, officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a call requesting a welfare check for a man lying near the railroad tracks in the 2100 block of South McKinley Ave. Police said they found Demetree Roberson, 36, dead at the scene. According to OKC police Sgt. Gary Knight, the man's injuries were 'consistent with homicide.' About three hours before that, police had responded to a shooting at a residence near 3133 N. Portland Ave. There, shortly after 11:20 p.m. on May 11, officers found 24-year-old Thomas Wade III shot to death. More: OKCPD investigating three deaths, injuries after multiple incidents this weekend According to a news release, investigators believe that two men went to Wade's apartment that night, killing him before fleeing the scene. So far, no arrests have been made in connection with either homicide. Police are asking for anyone with information to contact the department's tipline at 405-297-1200. Wade's death is the latest in recent killings tied to the 3100 block of North Portland. On February 24 of last year, officers also found the body of Fred Gordon, 37, on the sidewalk at 3128 N Portland Ave. Police said his case remains unsolved.
