Egypt's Democratic Generation Party Evaluates 84 Candidates Ahead of Parliamentary Vote
Egypt's Democratic Generation Party has begun early preparations for the country's next parliamentary elections, with 84 potential candidates from across the country currently under evaluation, a senior party official said on Wednesday.
Mahmoud Ezz, assistant secretary-general of the party and head of its central elections committee, said the screening process began nearly three months ago, shortly after he was appointed to lead the committee.
'The party is working according to a well-structured plan to select the most qualified individuals to represent us in various constituencies,' Ezz said. 'We are currently reviewing 84 applications, and each one is being examined closely to ensure that only the most competent candidates move forward.'
He said the selection criteria include a candidate's visible and consistent presence within their electoral district, engagement in public and community affairs, and a solid professional and academic background. Political and social experience also plays a key role in the evaluation.
Ezz stressed that the party is focused on endorsing candidates capable of effective parliamentary participation, contributing to the drafting of legislation, and advocating for citizens' concerns at the national level.
'We want our candidates to reflect the aspirations of the people and to earn their trust through performance, not just promises,' Ezz said.
The Egyptian government has not yet announced a date for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The Democratic Generation Party is expected to finalize its list of candidates once the review process is complete.
