government engineering colleges The Karnataka government has suffered a financial loss of Rs 3.96 crore due to principals of government engineering and polytechnic colleges failing to collect tuition fees from students. This came to light during an audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), which flagged the issue in a notice to the Department of Technical Education seeking to the report, in the academic year 2020–21, students who had enrolled in government polytechnic and engineering colleges applied for fee reimbursement under the State Scholarship Portal (SSP). Since 2019–20, the state had adopted the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, wherein the scholarship amount was directly credited to the bank accounts of the students. However, instead of using this money to pay the colleges, several students kept the amount. Despite this, college principals made no effort to recover the fees from the students, resulting in a loss of revenue for the audit of five government polytechnic colleges revealed that 2,526 students studying from 2020–21 to 2022–23 had received scholarships totalling Rs 75.16 lakh, but colleges failed to collect the fees from them. Additionally, 1,034 students did not even apply for scholarships, resulting in another Rs 30.45 lakh remaining unpaid. The issue extends beyond just a few institutions. In total, 55 government polytechnic colleges and twohave failed to collect Rs 3.21 crore in tuition fees. With most of these students having already graduated, recovering Rs 1.13 crore has been deemed nearly impossible by the audit report warns that the failure to collect the fees will adversely impact the Infrastructure Development Plan (IDP), as tuition fees collected are meant to be deposited into the treasury and used for improving infrastructure in educational institutions. A.P. students achieve 95.36 per cent pass rate in POLYCET-2025

Students who appeared for POLYCET-2025 in Andhra Pradesh have achieved an impressive overall pass percentage of 95.36. The Department of Technical Education released the POLYCET- 2025 results on Wednesday. Of the total 1,39,840 candidates who appeared for the exam, 1,33,358 passed, while girls outperformed the boys with a pass percentage of 96.9 compared to 94.38 achieved by the latter. A remarkable achievement this year is that 19 students secured a perfect score of 120 out of 120. All SC and ST candidates, who appeared for the test have been allotted ranks to ensure equitable opportunities for pursuing technical education. This measure aims to empower these candidates to secure jobs early in their careers or venture into entrepreneurship. The State Board of Technical Education and Training conducted the entrance exam on April 3, 2025, to facilitate admissions into diploma courses in Engineering and non-Engineering streams offered by the 87 government polytechnics, 180 private polytechnics and private engineering colleges in the State. Among districts, ASR district recorded the highest pass percentage at 98.66, while Anantapur registered the lowest at 93.11. The highest number of participants, 12,365 candidates, hailed from Visakhapatnam district. Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Nara Lokesh congratulated the successful candidates. 'Glad to see that girls have fared better with 96.9%, raising hopes to see more women entrepreneurs and technocrats from A.P. in near future as dreamt of by government,' he posted on X. The Minister said that he was truly impressed by the stellar performance of 19 students who secured 120 out of 120. 'I commend their excellent work and dedication,' he said and went on to add that aspirants who could not make it this year should keep going strong. 'The world is big and full of opportunities,' he said.

Director of the Department of Technical Education G. Ganesh Kumar said that 94.3 % of the students studying their final year in government and aided polytechnics have secured jobs in campus placements in the academic year 2024-25. In a statement on Tuesday (April 22), said 8,630 of the total 9,145 final year students in the 82 government and one aided polytechnic colleges had secured jobs in campus placements. He said in the academic year 2024-25, campus placement drives were scheduled from January 2025 to April- 2025. 'Some campus placement drives are in progress, while some industries are yet to release the final results and offer letters. By the end of April, polytechnics are likely to achieve the target of 100 % placements,' he said. He said major recruiters included Texas Instruments, Thoughtworks, GE Aerospace, Medha Servo Drives, Efftronics Systems Pvt. Ltd., H.L. Mando Anand India Pvt. Ltd., Wheels India Ltd., Amara Raja, Electro Steel Castings, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, L&T, Wipro, Maruthi Suzuki, TATA Advanced Systems Limited, ITC, Kalpataru Projects, Ultra Tech, Nayara Energy, Schneider Electric, Coromandel International, GLASS Technology, Ramco Cements and MRF Tyres, among others. The highest package offered so far was ₹9.2 LPA and the lowest ₹1.8 LPA, while the average package is ₹2.2 LPA, he said. It may be noted that the department celebrated 'Job Achievers' Day' in Polytechnics during March, 2025, to recognise and celebrate the hard work and success of the diploma students who have secured placements during campus recruitment drives.
