SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Sullivan County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) dispatcher was awarded the Lifesaving Award after helping a father save his infant child from drowning, the SCSO said in a release on Thursday.
On Dec. 19, 2024, dispatcher Wendy Doran received a call from the father of a seven-month-old who was experiencing trouble breathing in the bathtub, the release said.

Doran instructed the father through a new technology called Rapid Deploy. Rapid Deploy sent the father a link and allowed Doran to observe the infant's actions. Doran successfully instructed the father to retrieve a syringe to extract water from the infant's mouth. The infant began breathing, and an EMS arrived shortly afterward.
The SCSO said the following in the release:
Mrs. Doran's actions and quick thinking definitley helped keep the infant alive. She was recently presented with the Lifesaving Award by Sheriff Cassidy, Lesley Musick, Director of Sullivan County 911, and her supervisor, Michelle Wexler.
