UPDATE: Coroner ID's victim of fatal Springfield crash, one still critically injured
Update: 3:30 p.m.
SANGAMON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Sangamon County Coroner has released more information regarding a fatal traffic crash that happened early Monday morning.
Coroner Jim Allmon said 19-year-old Desmond Walls of Springfield was pronounced dead on March 25 at 5 p.m. An autopsy was done on March 27, and preliminary findings indicate he died from multiple blunt force injuries he received in the crash.

The death is under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.
SANGAMON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — One person has died and another was hospitalized with 'life-threatening' injuries after a car crash in Springfield.
The Sangamon County Sheriff's Office contacted the Illinois State Police to investigate a single car crash that occurred on March 24. It happened near North Second Street at Calhoun Avenue around 5:17 a.m.

State Police said after investigating, they learned a 2016 White Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling north on North Second Street and approaching Calhoun Street. The Jeep hit an unoccupied, parked 2012 Black Toyota Camry. Then, the Jeep hit two power poles.
The Jeep was occupied by two 19-year-old males from Springfield. Both were brought to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. One was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Illinois State Police were unable to provide any more information about the other male involved in the crash. They added that the crash investigation is still active and that no further information is available at this time.
