Huge A-Listers named in bombshell P Diddy trial as jury selection gets underway

P Diddy appeared in court on Monday for his ongoing sex trafficking case, which may last up to 10 weeks. During the hearing, the jury selection began before the trial itself starts on May 12 A number of Hollywood stars were named on the first day of P Diddy's trial on Monday as jury selection got underway. After months of being locked up in New York's notorious MDC prison, the disgraced media mogul, 54, appeared in court for sex trafficking - which he denies. During the hearing at Manhattan's federal court in New York, a list of high-profile celebrities was handed to potential jurors because they may come up throughout the trial. The panel was given a 'lengthy questionnaire' about their overall knowledge of the case, with several confirming that they obtained information through documentaries, news reports, and social media. ‌ ‌ Actor Michael B Jordan was mentioned on the list, who, according to Rolling Stone, previously dated Diddy's ex, Cassie Ventura. Cassie, who dated Diddy - real name, Sean Combs - for a decade is likely to be the prosecution's star witness after she filed a civil lawsuit against the rapper in 2023, accusing him of rape and human trafficking, which he denied. Austin Powers actor, Mike Myers, was also mentioned during the jury selection. It's unclear why, however, there is a scene in one of his Austin Powers movies that includes a Diddy joke, according to USA Today. Other names mentioned were Kanye West, Michelle Williams from Destiny's child, actress Lauren London – who was the girlfriend of Nipsey Hussle, who was fatally shot in 2019 – and rapper Kid Cudi. During the first day of the trial, jurors were also asked 'if they watched crime shows, where they gathered their news from, if they had an opinion on Hip-Hop, [if they] had ever experienced a traumatic event, and if they 'believe that wealthy people get away with things that the less wealthy do not.'' ‌ Diddy admitted he was a 'little nervous today,' in court on Monday, but remained 'attentive throughout the selection process, whispering to his counsel on potential jurors he approved or disapproved of", according to Rolling Stone. Jury selection is expected to wrap up in about a week, with opening statements tentatively scheduled for May 12. The proceedings are estimated to last eight to 10 weeks. If convicted on five felony counts of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, the Bad Boy star will face 15 years to life in prison. ‌ After rejecting an 11th-hour plea deal offer from prosecutors, Diddy believes the jury due for selection will clear him of the devastating accusations made against him. Those 12 people are set to hear shocking evidence that could put him away for life with allegations that he drugged and abused countless victims during drug-fuelled sex parties dubbed 'freak-offs'. He is accused of a number of charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution. Federal prosecutors in New York alleged he "abused, threatened and coerced women" into long, drug-fuelled orgies with male prostitutes he called "freak offs" and even threatened them into silence.
