Five arrested as drugs, guns and cash seized in north Liverpool
A Skorpion sub-machine gun was part of a haul of drugs, guns and cash seized in raids on Merseyside. Detectives found ketamine and cannabis, along with more than £86,000 in cash and two self-loading pistols after an investigation running for more than two years targeted organised crime in north Liverpool, Merseyside Police said. Det Insp Chris Carlin said the raids on Thursday were "the culmination of years of dedicated investigative work".Four men, aged 24 to 34, and a woman, 49, have been held on suspicion of a range of firearms and drug offences.
The investigation ran from January 2023 to June 2025, the force Insp Carlin said the force worked on a daily basis to remove dangerous weapons and illicit drugs from the streets, adding: "Innocent lives have been torn apart by gang culture." He said officers relied on the public to be "our eyes and ears" and urged people to come forward with information about drugs or organised crime in their community.
