Two more men arrested in Rotherham attempted murder probe

Two more men have been arrested in an attempted murder investigation in Rotherham. Police were called to a collision on Fitzwilliam Road at 16:40 BST on 24 May in which a man, 48, was found with life-altering injuries believed to have been caused by a pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. A 22-year-old man was charged with attempted murder on Thursday, two more men, aged 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and fraud, according to South Yorkshire Police. Both have been released on police bail pending further Marcin Chroback, 22, of Bawtry Road, Rotherham, was charged with attempted murder and remanded into will next appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 25 previously arrested another man, 45, on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains on bail.A woman, 25, who was also previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has since been released with no further Insp Matthew Bolger, who is leading the case said: "We have made several arrests in connection with this incident as our investigation continues."We are still interested in hearing from anyone who might have CCTV or dashcam footage from the Eastwood area at the time of the incident. Man found dead in river near Rotherham named by police

A man whose body was found in a river in South Yorkshire has been named by police as 57-year-old Nigel received a call about a missing person at about 12:15 BST on Saturday and Mr Stevens' body was recovered from the river near Treeton Lane in Rotherham at about 19:15 BST the same day.A 42-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder had since been released on bail as the investigation into Mr Stevens' death continued, according to South Yorkshire Insp Matthew Bolger, senior investigating officer, said his thoughts were with Mr Stevens' family at what was was "an extremely difficult time". Mr Stevens had not been seen since Thursday and the alarm was raised on Saturday lunchtime, Det Insp Bolger said."Our inquiries are continuing at pace and we are continuing to urge anyone who has information, and has not yet spoken to us, to come forward and do so."Even the smallest piece of information could prove vital as we work to piece together the events which led to Nigel's tragic death."
