Nagpur: In a landmark decision to bring street children into the mainstream of education and society, the Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday approved a comprehensive scheme to operate run Mobile Outreach Teams across the state. The initiative aims to rehabilitate thousands of homeless, orphaned, and neglected children by ensuring access to education, healthcare, protection, and overall development. The cabinet meeting was chaired by CM Devendra scheme, which was piloted in six districts —Nagpur, Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Nashik — under the Mission Vatsalya programme , received positive feedback. Based on its success, the initiative will now be implemented as a regular state-level the approved plan, mobile teams will be deployed in each of the 29 municipal corporations across Maharashtra. Mumbai will have two teams — one each for eastern and western suburbs — bringing the total to 31 mobile outreach units.
