Madhya Pradesh's Indore now has metro services with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurating the first phase of the key project through video link from Bhopal, where he attended an event marking the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar. The project marks the first metro rail service in Madhya Pradesh. At the inauguration event held in Indore, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu said, "Prime Minister Modi has given a major gift to Indore in the form of metro rail service. Indore has become the 24th city in the country to launch metro services." – Officials said commercial operations started on Saturday on the approximately six-kilometre `Super Priority Corridor' between Gandhi Nagar Station and Station No 3 also known as 'Super Corridor-03'. – There are a total of five metro stations in the first phase. The fare for five-station stretch between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor-03 will range from ₹20 to ₹30, as per a TOI report. – The five Indore metro stations are Gandhi Nagar, Super Corridor 6, Super Corridor 5, Super Corridor 4, and Super Corridor 3, with passenger services commencing from the Gandhi Nagar station. MP government announced that all rides will be completely free in the first week of launch. – While metro stations in the city are designed to accommodate six-coach trains, currently three-coach trains with a capacity to carry 980 passengers are in operation, according to a PTI news agency report. – A total of 31.32 km of metro network is planned for Indore, the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh, with an estimated cost of ₹7,500.8 crore. The complete network will have 28 stations, serving the city which currently has a population of over 35 lakh.

Indore: Praising Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar as a visionary and capable ruler, who worked for justice, good governance , and social welfare, chief minister Mohan Yadav on Monday highlighted the virtues and contributions of the Holkar queen in the Indian cultural arena. Yadav, while speaking during a 'Nayta Manchan' based on the life of Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar in Indore's Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium, said that she was given Rs 8.5 crore by her in-laws as one-fourth of their assets. "This amount was given to Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar for personal expenses," the CM said, adding that the Holkar queen used this amount to realise her thoughts of cultural nationalism. The CM said that Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar constructed four temples and ghats in Ayodhya. She also constructed temples in Varanasi, along with Annakshetra, Dharmshala, and ghats across the country. Yadav also praised the Holkar queen as a visionary and capable ruler, who worked for justice, good governance, and social welfare. The CM felicitated the artistes at the end of the event and announced that such programmes would be organised at every big city of the state as tribute to the Holkar queen. After that, he left for Sarafa to enjoy the street food there late at night. It manages numerous properties, including 138 temples, 18 dharmshalas, and 34 ghats, spread across 26 states in India. For the first time since India's independence, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet meeting is set to take place in the historic Rajwada Palace of Indore. The Darbar Hall (Durbar Hall) has been meticulously decorated to resemble the court of the Holkar dynasty. Instead of chairs, traditional 'pattas' (low wooden seats) and mattresses have been laid out for the CM and all the ministers to sit on. The state govt is expected to make significant decisions here on Tuesday.

Indore : Indore is on the cusp of witnessing a historic moment, to mark the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar , by a special meeting of the Madhya Pradesh cabinet to be held at Rajwada, the city's iconic historical palace, on May 20. This will be the first time that the state cabinet convenes at this magnificent heritage site to deliberate on crucial public welfare policies. Preparations are in full swing to ensure the meeting is a seamless blend of dignity and tradition. On Saturday, senior administrative, police and IMC officials visited the venue to review the arrangements. They directed officials to ensure all preparations are completed within the stipulated timeframe and in accordance with the solemnity of the occasion. Rajwada is being meticulously decorated in a style that blends traditional aesthetics with modern embellishments, in remembrance of Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar, whose 300th birth anniversary is on May 31. The interiors and exteriors of the palace will distinctly showcase the Malawi culture. They will proceed into Rajwada, where the meeting will be held on the ground floor. Discussions on schemes related to the state's development, public welfare, and good governance are anticipated during the session. Arrangements for the reception and hospitality of all attendees are being made in accordance with the Malwi tradition. After the meeting, a traditional Malawi feast will be organised on the first floor, featuring local delicacies such as dal-baati, dahi bada and mawa maati. A temporary secretariat is being established within the Rajwada complex to facilitate all administrative activities related to the meeting.
