One Piece reveals Imu's terrifying powers: Here's everything we know so far

The mysterious big bad of the entire world finally takes center stage—and fans are shook. If you're not a diehard One Piece fan, you may be unfamiliar with Imu. In the fictional universe of this popular anime and manga series, Imu is the hooded person who runs the World Government from behind the scenes. Introduced during the Levely Arc, Imu has only just recently begun to display their true abilities and the current manga chapters are showing just how horrifying Imu can be. So, in Chapter 1150 of the One Piece manga, the creator Eiichiro Oda has finally been able to show us just how disturbing the powers of Imu truly are. Some of these powers are so unbelievably powerful, they can compare to the most powerful and infamous Devil Fruits known to exist. Whether you're a One Piece veteran or just getting your feet wet, here's an easily digestible, spoiler-free guide to every power Imu has displayed thus far. 1. Possession: Imu can take over other people's bodies Imu has the ability to completely take over the bodies of her followers, most notably the God's Knights. When she commandeers a knight named Gunko, she maneuvers the body like a puppet but much more thoroughly and terrifyingly than anything we've seen so far. This is a departure from Devil Fruits such as Doflamingo's, which control motion. Imu's control is absolute—mind, body, and soul. 2. Demon form: Imu transforms into a monster In an early scene, when Imu takes over a person's body, the victim's transformation is horrifying. Read on, and get your creative ideas boiling to include wings, tail, horns—the true demon aesthetic. Her devotees literally transform into these giant beastly shapes. Whether a part of this transformation suggests the legacy of an old race or lost force, like a Magellan-esque looking Magellan, the toxic jailer from the draw Impel Down arc. 3. Conqueror's haki so strong it crushes giants Haki is already one of the most powerful forces in the One Piece universe, but Imu raises the bar even higher. When she enters the battlefield, her Conqueror's Haki is described as so powerful that it automatically takes out Giant warriors. That even the very best of the best fighters, like Shanks, have never been shown doing it…until now. 4. Summoning weapons out of thin air Geared up, in the heat of battle, Imu conjures a giant gun and dagger out of thin air. This is deeper than Devil Fruits like Baby 5's, who turn her body into weapons. Imu doesn't change—she just makes sledgehammers and ice picks and fire hoses from thin air. 5. Instant teleportation using magic circles You don't often see teleportation in One Piece, but Imu just shifts through space without a care. It's one of the most incredible powers in a show filled with them. She can draw blazing magic circles in the air and magically teleport herself, her entire magical girl army, or even massive weapons, across enormous leaps. Unlike yet another charlatan who set up their plays in slow motion, she sets up her entire play mid-air and virtually instantaneously. She is faster than any God's Knight. 6. Demon contracts: Turning people into immortal monsters Remarkably, Imu is able to write contracts that transform individuals into monstrous, demon-like soldiers. These contracts don't require anyone's approval. She can impose them unilaterally on whomever she pleases. Once the agreement is reached, the individual turns into an unparalleled clearing-device of death, answering to Imu's every whim, similar to Sugar's doll slaves from Dressrosa. 7. Total mind control Arguably, one of the spookiest aspects of Imu's power is mind control. Once she has someone under her influence, they're not just physically altered—they're mentally controlled. This is even deeper than the deepest recorded Devil Fruit. It's even more impressive than Pudding's memory-altering powers or Breed's anime-only control collars. Is Imu the most powerful villain in One Piece? Fans are left wondering now, as the series continues to ramp up towards its conclusion, whether or not Imu is, in fact, the final boss of One Piece. Her powers aren't just physical—they're emotional, mental, and even magical. Whether her powers are attributed to a Devil Fruit, ancient technology, or something even older, it's obvious she's in a league of her own. As the One Piece manga heads into its last saga, look for Imu to get even more dangerous. We've just gotten a taste of her power and if that taste is this horrifying, the fully realized powers she could unleash would alter reality completely. Zoro's left eye mystery: Oda finally hints at the truth behind One Piece's biggest secret

One Piece is well known for its extensive worldbuilding and long form mysteries. From Devil Fruits to ancient weapons, Oda's made fans wait for over 20 years and counting. One of the biggest discussed enigmas is none other than the Straw Hat Pirates' swordsman — Roronoa Zoro and his left eye. Stemming from the two-year timeskip, ever since then, Zoro has been seen with a noticeable, deep scar across his left eye, which he has never opened. Since then, fans have been trying to guess what might be behind it. Is that merely a battle scar? Or is it concealing something mighty underneath. Recently, Oda provided potentially the smallest clue on record. It happens to be one of the most important and it might suggest something huge is coming soon. Zoro's left eye – Accident or secret power revealed? During the two-year timeskip after the events of Marineford, Zoro traveled to Kuraigana Island to train with Dracule Mihawk, the world's strongest swordsman. When he did come back, he left fans stunned with his new scar and a now permanently closed left eye. Even after all this time, Oda has never clarified how Zoro came by the scar and not a single character in the entire series has made mention of it. It is that silence alone that is causing fans to think it's more than just a random injury. Here's the kicker: according to Oda's fellow manga artist Nobuhiro Watsuki, Oda had decided on Zoro losing an eye starting back in the early 2000s — long before it actually did happen. That heavily implies that this moment was never spontaneous, rather an event Oda planned far in advance with the intention of executing at this specific time. Fan theories: Demonic powers & A secret final form? For more than a decade, fans have created some of the craziest, most creative theories… Perhaps the most famous fan theory at this point is that Zoro's left eye is closed to contain some sort of demonic power. Zoro has previously been presented as somewhat of a demonic presence in combat, particularly with techniques such as 'Asura,' which manifests him in a scary, multi-armed apparition. Some fans theorize that Zoro's eye may be the key to him achieving a final form — a development where Zoro would enter battle using mystical, supernatural abilities that far surpass his present level of strength. It may even be related to his self-declared nomenclature—King of Hell. If it is indeed the case, then Zoro's eye may be his final trump card — an ability he'll only bring out in his last fight, presumably against Mihawk. Or is it just a scar? Naturally, there's the possibility Oda is simply trolling fans — something he's done more than a few times in the past. That would add some depth to a scar that, up until the wearer's revelation in the last episode, could easily have just been an effect of Zoro's brutal training under Mihawk. It could be something that denotes sacrifice, discipline, or even restraint, indicating that Zoro has learned to master his fury and strength. There's historical precedent for Oda avoiding the most loaded questions. Zoro's backstory and Wano origins were largely excluded from the Wano arc, only to be revealed years later in SBS interviews. If Oda feels the eye scar isn't integral to Zoro's development, then he could leave it ambiguous or only show it in an extra. Will Zoro's eyes open in the final saga? With the final saga of One Piece now underway, it's only a matter of time before Oda addresses the mystery. Zoro is closer than ever to facing Mihawk again—his ultimate rival and the current World's Strongest Swordsman. It would be the perfect time for the truth about the eye to be revealed, whether it's a hidden ability or simply a battle scar that shaped him. Even if the eye holds no supernatural power, it still represents the sacrifices Zoro has made to protect his crew and pursue his dream. Whether Oda reveals it in the main story or in a future SBS (Q&A column), fans are sure to get an answer soon. Oda's final saga may hold the answer The good news? One Piece is now in its final saga. All the biggest mysteries — including the Will of D, the Void Century, and yes, even Zoro's eye — are expected to be revealed before the story ends. Fans believe that when Zoro finally faces Mihawk again, the truth behind his left eye will come out. Whether it's a power, a curse, or simply a scar with deep meaning, it will likely play a role in Zoro's final steps toward becoming the world's greatest swordsman. Until then, the mystery lives on — and fans wouldn't have it any other way. Where to watch One Piece One Piece is available to stream on Crunchyroll. One Piece: Oda quietly reveals the genius behind Luffy's final power-up and Pirate King legacy

Credits: Crunchyroll & X With One Piece getting close to its Final Saga , fans around the world are more eager than ever to uncover the mysteries around Luffy's growth. After being trained by the legendary Silvers Rayleigh during the time skip arc, many have wondered—who could possibly guide the future Pirate King next? According to recent insights and subtle hints from series creator Eiichiro Oda , Luffy may already be on course to meet—or has already met—his next mentor figure. Operation Sindoor 'Our job is to hit target, not to count body bags': Air Marshal Bharti on Op Sindoor Precautionary blackout imposed across parts of Rajasthan, Punjab 'Indian Navy was in position to strike Karachi': Vice Admiral on Operation Sindoor One Piece has always been centered on adventure, friendship, and freedom, Luffy's growth has also come from the guidance of powerful figures, like Rayleigh's role in helping Luffy master Haki was important for preparing him for the New World. But now, as the battles grow more intense and the enemies more godlike, Luffy's path seems to demand an even bigger growth for him to achieve his goals. One Piece: A mentor beyond the expected Eiichiro Oda has a long history of hiding major plot seeds in plain sight, and it seems he's done it again. Recent chapters of the manga suggest that Dr. Vegapunk , the genius scientist from Egghead Island, may be the one to take on the role of Luffy's next major mentor—though not in the traditional combat sense. Now Vegapunk is expanding Luffy's understanding of the world itself. With their interactions, Luffy is getting exposed to the hidden truths about the Void Century , the nature of Devil Fruits, and even the secrets of Joy Boy and the ancient weapons which will help him and his crew to win the final battle against the world government and Imu. Credits: Crunchyroll This intellectual mentorship aligns with the Final Arc of the One Piece, where battles are not just won with fists, but also with the knowledge, legacy, and understanding of history. Oda is showing that the future Pirate King doesn't just need to be strong—he needs to understand the world he's going to change. Luffy's Gear 5 transformation is linked to the mysterious Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika—which is yet to be fully explored. Vegapunk, being the world's leading expert on Devil Fruits, might hold the answers Luffy requires to fully master this power. If Rayleigh was the one who unlocked Luffy's Haki potential, Vegapunk could be the one to unlock the entire truth of his devil fruit. What this means for the final saga As One Piece barrels toward its climactic chapters, Luffy's evolution is critical to the story's endgame. With Blackbeard, Imu, and the World Government still looming large, Luffy will need every edge he can get—not just in strength, but in strategy. Vegapunk's role as a mentor in the series could redefine what it means to be a mentor in One Piece. Vegapunk may have never picked up a sword or thrown a punch, but his influence on Luffy's journey could be just as important as Rayleigh's. More than a teacher of power, Vegapunk could be Luffy's teacher of truth. And that's fitting. In a series where inherited will and understanding the past are central themes, Oda seems to be making a statement: true leadership comes not just from being the strongest, but from knowing what's worth fighting for. With Egghead Island rapidly becoming one of the most lore-rich arcs in the series, it wouldn't be surprising if Luffy emerges from it not only stronger, but wiser, armed with the knowledge to bring about the final era of change. One Piece fans should keep their eyes peeled—because in Oda's world, every conversation, every glance, and every clue could be part of Luffy's next great leap forward.
