One Piece reveals Imu's terrifying powers: Here's everything we know so far
The mysterious big bad of the entire world finally takes center stage—and fans are shook. If you're not a diehard One Piece fan, you may be unfamiliar with Imu. In the fictional universe of this popular anime and manga series, Imu is the hooded person who runs the World Government from behind the scenes. Some of these powers are so unbelievably powerful, they can compare to the most powerful and infamous Devil Fruits known to exist. Whether you're a One Piece veteran or just getting your feet wet, here's an easily digestible, spoiler-free guide to every power Imu has displayed thus far. 1. Possession: Imu can take over other people's bodies Imu has the ability to completely take over the bodies of her followers, most notably the God's Knights. When she commandeers a knight named Gunko, she maneuvers the body like a puppet but much more thoroughly and terrifyingly than anything we've seen so far. This is a departure from Devil Fruits such as Doflamingo's, which control motion. Imu's control is absolute—mind, body, and soul. 2. Demon form: Imu transforms into a monster In an early scene, when Imu takes over a person's body, the victim's transformation is horrifying. Read on, and get your creative ideas boiling to include wings, tail, horns—the true demon aesthetic. Her devotees literally transform into these giant beastly shapes. Whether a part of this transformation suggests the legacy of an old race or lost force, like a Magellan-esque looking Magellan, the toxic jailer from the draw Impel Down arc. 3. Conqueror's haki so strong it crushes giants Haki is already one of the most powerful forces in the One Piece universe, but Imu raises the bar even higher. When she enters the battlefield, her Conqueror's Haki is described as so powerful that it automatically takes out Giant warriors. That even the very best of the best fighters, like Shanks, have never been shown doing it…until now. 4. Summoning weapons out of thin air Geared up, in the heat of battle, Imu conjures a giant gun and dagger out of thin air. This is deeper than Devil Fruits like Baby 5's, who turn her body into weapons. Imu doesn't change—she just makes sledgehammers and ice picks and fire hoses from thin air. 5. Instant teleportation using magic circles You don't often see teleportation in One Piece, but Imu just shifts through space without a care. It's one of the most incredible powers in a show filled with them. She can draw blazing magic circles in the air and magically teleport herself, her entire magical girl army, or even massive weapons, across enormous leaps. Unlike yet another charlatan who set up their plays in slow motion, she sets up her entire play mid-air and virtually instantaneously. She is faster than any God's Knight. 6. Demon contracts: Turning people into immortal monsters Remarkably, Imu is able to write contracts that transform individuals into monstrous, demon-like soldiers. These contracts don't require anyone's approval. She can impose them unilaterally on whomever she pleases. Once the agreement is reached, the individual turns into an unparalleled clearing-device of death, answering to Imu's every whim, similar to Sugar's doll slaves from Dressrosa. 7. Total mind control Arguably, one of the spookiest aspects of Imu's power is mind control. Once she has someone under her influence, they're not just physically altered—they're mentally controlled. This is even deeper than the deepest recorded Devil Fruit. It's even more impressive than Pudding's memory-altering powers or Breed's anime-only control collars. Is Imu the most powerful villain in One Piece? Fans are left wondering now, as the series continues to ramp up towards its conclusion, whether or not Imu is, in fact, the final boss of One Piece. Her powers aren't just physical—they're emotional, mental, and even magical. Whether her powers are attributed to a Devil Fruit, ancient technology, or something even older, it's obvious she's in a league of her own. Zoro's left eye mystery: Oda finally hints at the truth behind One Piece's biggest secret
One Piece is well known for its extensive worldbuilding and long form mysteries. From Devil Fruits to ancient weapons, Oda's made fans wait for over 20 years and counting. One of the biggest discussed enigmas is none other than the Straw Hat Pirates' swordsman — Roronoa Zoro and his left eye. Stemming from the two-year timeskip, ever since then, Zoro has been seen with a noticeable, deep scar across his left eye, which he has never opened. Since then, fans have been trying to guess what might be behind it. Is that merely a battle scar? Or is it concealing something mighty underneath. Zoro's left eye – Accident or secret power revealed? When he did come back, he left fans stunned with his new scar and a now permanently closed left eye. For more than a decade, fans have created some of the craziest, most creative theories… Perhaps the most famous fan theory at this point is that Zoro's left eye is closed to contain some sort of demonic power. That would add some depth to a scar that, up until the wearer's revelation in the last episode, could easily have just been an effect of Zoro's brutal training under Mihawk. It could be something that denotes sacrifice, discipline, or even restraint, indicating that Zoro has learned to master his fury and strength. There's historical precedent for Oda avoiding the most loaded questions. Zoro's backstory and Wano origins were largely excluded from the Wano arc, only to be revealed years later in SBS interviews. If Oda feels the eye scar isn't integral to Zoro's development, then he could leave it ambiguous or only show it in an extra. Will Zoro's eyes open in the final saga? With the final saga of One Piece now underway, it's only a matter of time before Oda addresses the mystery.
