Machine gun found inside stolen vehicle, Chicopee man arrested
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Chicopee man was arrested after police found a machine gun inside a stolen vehicle that was tracked through city cameras in Springfield during a ShotSpotter activation investigation.
The Springfield Police Department said at around 4:05 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called to Oak Grove Avenue for a ShotSpotter activation. With the help of the Springfield Police Real-Time Analysis Center, officers were provided with a photo of a suspected vehicle.

The vehicle, which was reported stolen, was tracked using city cameras and found in a parking lot on the 600 block of State Street. Two suspects were located, but one of them ran away from the police.
A search inside the car revealed a firearm with a sear-selector switch, which turns a firearm into a fully automatic machine gun. Officers arrested 25-year-old Devin Garcia of Chicopee who was charged with the following:
Possession of a Machine Gun
Carrying a Firearm without a License
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
Arrestee Furnishing a False Name
– Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law– Distribution of a Class B Drug– Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug– Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug– Resisting Arrest
