Swiss woman tattoos Red Bull barcode on her arm, and it actually scans
Dew scans her Red Bull barcode tattoo. Image: TikTok screenshot A Swiss woman has taken her love for Red Bull to the next level by getting the drink's barcode tattooed on her arm. What's even more surprising is that it actually scans! Known as @mycringe.s–t on TikTok and Instagram, Dew shared a video of the barcode tattoo in action, and it quickly went viral online. The clip, which shows her successfully scanning the tattoo at a self-checkout, has racked up over eight million views on TikTok alone. 'For everyone wondering if my Red Bull barcode works, yes it does (if u get the right angle and in Switzerland),' she wrote in the caption. Dew told What's The Jam that she had been toying with the idea of getting a barcode tattoo for some time. With an existing collection of quirky tattoos, including an alpaca, the Zelda sword, hearts, and a lemon, she originally considered something playful like a broccoli. But in the end, she landed on Red Bull, a nod to the energy she associates with the drink. Her version of the barcode isn't just a copy-paste from a can. The design includes a cartoon worm munching through the code, inspired by a doodle from her sister. 'I then added the worm which is chomping it up, based on a little drawing my sister did,' Dew explained. While her tattoo artist was doubtful the barcode would actually scan, Dew remained hopeful. 'I knew it possibly couldn't work as my artist was very open about it,' she said. 'I tried the next day at work and it did, I was so excited about it.' The machine registers it as a 250 ml can of Red Bull. Image: TikTok screenshot

I love Red Bull so much I got a barcode tattoo — it even scans at the grocery checkout
Redbull: It gives you wild ideas. A Swiss woman is such a fan of Red Bull that she reportedly got the energy drink can's barcode tattooed on her skin – and it amazingly works at self-checkout. A video of her utilizing this functional body art has racked up over 7.9 million views on TikTok. 'I was thinking about getting a barcode tattoo for some time,' the woman, named Dew, told Jam Press of her drink-inspired ink job. Coincidentally, the content creator — who goes by @mycringe.s–t on social media — was initially thinking of getting a tat of 'broccoli or something silly,' but then decided on Red Bull after 'thinking energy.' 4 'I was thinking about getting a barcode tattoo for some time, however it wasn't always planned to be a Red Bull,' said Dew. 'I then added the worm which is chomping it up, based on a little drawing my sister did,' Dew explained of the body art, which evokes the barcode-themed skull tattoo from the 'Hitman' games. 4 Dew tests out her Red Bull tattoo. Jam Press/Dew The Swiss woman couldn't believe that the barcode was functional as even her ink guy had his reservations. 'I knew it possibly couldn't work as my artist was very open about it,' the content creator exclaimed. 'I tried the next day at work and it did, I was so excited about it.' 4 The inkjob cost over $600. Jam Press/Dew In the clip, Dew can be seen taking her tat for a test run by scanning the code at a self-checkout. The scanner goes off, prompting the ink-lover to whoop in triumph and point at the screen, where it shows she's been charged for one 250ml can of Red Bull. 'For everyone wondering if my Red Bull barcode works, yes it does,' Dew gushed in the caption to an Instagram repost of the video. Viewers were impressed that she managed to combine form and function so seamlessly. 'Well that's my next tattoo design sorted,' said one, while another wrote, 'OMG THIS IS GENIUS!' Even Red Bull Germany praised her permanent product plug, calling the feat 'Inkcredible.' However, some critics claimed it was quite shortsighted of her to get a permanent tattoo of something that would only work until they changed the barcode. 'What she gonna do when the barcode changes,' fretted one, to which the Red Bull fan replied, 'not care.' No word as to whether Dew is worried about getting accidentally scanned for a Red Bull every time she goes to checkout at the store.

In the clip, she took herself to a self-scanning checkout and instead of using the code on the item, used her arm tattoo. I got an elephant tattoo - but it looks like a penis The video was shared on her TikTok account @ mycringe.s**t and people were left stunned by the clever design. Some went as far as to hail Dew as a genius while others were inspired to get a similar tattoo. One person wrote: "Iconic." Another commented: 'Well that's my next tattoo design sorted." Tattoo Do's and Don'ts 1. Think, think and think some more Tattoos done on a whim are far more likely to lead to regret than a tattoo you thought long and hard about. Think about why you want what you've chosen. And if you still want it after a few months, then get it. 2. Age restrictions apply You must be 18 years old to be tattooed in the UK. 3. Don't haggle over the price When you go to a tattoo shop the price is the price. You are paying for an artist's time and skills, they charge what they believe those things are worth. 4. Don't get tattooed while you're hungry Eat before you go for your tattoo session and make sure you're hydrated. You're about to be subjected to a period of sustained physical discomfort, if you're feeling a little weak from hunger or you're dehydrated things will not go as smoothly as they should. 5. Don't drink alcohol before you get tattooed If you are drunk or under the influence of drugs, don't go for a tattoo. In fact, if your tattooist has anything at all about them they will turn you away if you are clearly under the influence of any intoxicating substances. I'd also avoid drinking the night before, even a few drinks will thin your blood and make your bleed more. "I Need this," penned a third. Meanwhile a fourth said: "And all of the sudden I know what I want my next tattoo to be." "Imagine if the barcode changes,' claimed a fifth. Someone else added: 'Omg I need to do this for my fav drink."
