Cowboys Headlines: Dez Bryant makes CFHoF ballot, slams NFL's Pride Month campaign

Cowboys Headlines: Dez Bryant makes CFHoF ballot, slams NFL's Pride Month campaign Dez Bryant has made headlines again, but not all of it is positive. The former Cowboys wideout is on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame in a deserved nod to his career at Oklahoma State. But Bryant has also stirred up some controversy with an online post where he unloads his inflammatory thoughts on one of the NFL's big social-issue campaigns. And to top it all off, one outlet's 2010 redraft makes his entire Cowboys career vanish. Meanwhile, another member of the 88 Club likes what he saw at Cowboys practice over the weekend, and there's some confusion over just what jersey number the team's newest wide receiver will wear. We'll also share Tyler Smith's new role as the offensive line's leader, we'll reveal which Cowboys player is due for a big bounceback year, and we'll look into Solomon Thomas's possible redemption year. Micah Parsons has a problem with the offseason hobby of a highly-touted NFC East rookie, we'll explore the massive dead-money hit the team is taking, and we'll explain why one divisional rival's new coordinator has a former Cowboys head coach to thank for his opportunity. Former Cowboys WR Dez Bryant among many locals on NFF College Football Hall of Fame ballot :: Dallas Morning News Link Bryant is one of 79 players on this year's ballot, along with fellow former Cowboys Flozell Adams, Kellen Moore, and Greg Ellis. Local college standouts Robert Griffin III and Josh Heupel are also included, as are coaches Tommy Tuberville and Gary Patterson. Dez Bryant makes controversial statement regarding NFL Pride Month campaign :: Link A video for the NFL's Pride Month campaign in 2021 has made the rounds again on social media. Bryant took the opportunity to tee off on the inclusive messages contained therein, like 'Football is gay,' 'Football is lesbian,' 'Football is transgender,' and 'Football is for everyone.' "These are wild statements to make," Bryant wrote on X. "Excuse my silliness. I'm going to proudly tell my boys football is none of these things. I have nothing against Gays, but this is far from right." After one practice, Hall of Famer vows '25 Cowboys 'will shock the world' :: Cowboys Wire Link Irvin is a believer in what Brian Schottenheimer has started in Dallas. After sitting in on Saturday's walkthrough, he was impressed with the obvious focus on competition and pressure that the coach is instilling in his players at every opportunity. It was, to the three-time Super Bowl champ, a noticeable difference over previous seasons. "We gon' shock your [expletive] this year," he promised. Tyler Smith on revamped Cowboys' offensive line: 'It's important we rise to the occasion' :: The Mothership Link Smith has gone from being a rookie to being a team leader in three short years. Now he's taken it upon himself to bring the other two Tylers- Guyton and Booker- along in their development. He firmly believes the team's overall success is "gonna start and end with us" on the O-line. Trust in the Trenches: NFC East offensive line rankings for 2025 :: Cowboys Wire Link The Cowboys could show real improvement here, especially behind new offensive coaches Klayton Adams and Conor Riley. But until the unit shows a big leap on the field, they rank no better than third in the division, ahead of New York but behind Washington and top-ranked Philadelphia. Dead Money Blues: Almost $30 million in cap space used on these 6 former Cowboys :: Cowboys Wire Link Over 10% of the team's 2025 salary cap is going to Zack Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence, Brandin Cooks, and Michael Gallup. Cornerback Eric Scott and defensive tackle Viliami Fehoko are eating up much smaller chunks of cap space. None is with the team this season, but a few of those dead-money deals hurt worse than the others. Bounceback candidates for all 32 NFL teams :: PFF Link Dak Prescott is the pick for Dallas. Yes, he was injured for much of 2024, but the truth is, he wasn't very good for the other half of the season, either. And that's after he was an MVP candidate the year before. Having George Pickens as a secondary option should certainly help Prescott's bounceback effort. (But don't overlook the need for Osa Odighizuwa to improve his run-stop numbers, too.) Cowboys hoping to reap benefit of late-career surge from $41 million, former Top-3 pick :: Cowboys Wire Link Solomon Thomas is not just a former first-round pick; he's a former Top-5 pick. He could finally live up to that billing in the Cowboys' new-look defense under Matt Eberflus. He'll likely be a spot starter on the interior, alongside Osa Odighizuwa and Mazi Smith. Micah 'The Lion' Parsons takes offense with rival rookie's offseason hobby :: Micah Parsons New Dallas Cowboys linebacker Kenneth Murray is taking things 'personal' in 2025 :: Fort Worth Star-Telegram Link 'When [opponents] are just running it down your throat, that's just unacceptable,' Murray said. The Cowboys have been abysmal in run defense lately, but he's been impressed by Matt Eberflus's attention to detail and plans to turn those numbers around in his first year with the team. The linebacker will get the chance early: Dallas will face five teams ranked in the top seven of rushing offense from 2024, including the second-ranked Eagles in Week 1, led by rushing champion Saquon Barkley. George Pickens' Dallas Cowboys jersey number leaked on NFL Shop? :: Link Pickens has been taking the field in OTAs wearing No. 13. He wore No. 14 for Pittsburgh, but that number is currently worn by safety Markquese Bell. His college number, No. 1, belongs to wideout Jalen Tolbert. The team's online pro shop had No. 3 jerseys on sale with Pickens' name on the back... but Dante Fowler supposedly owns that number now that he's back with the Cowboys. Long story short, no one seems to know what jersey number Pickens will officially don in 2025. Cowboys screwed in 2010 redraft as two teammates now go Top 20 :: Cowboys Wire Link PFF's re-do of the 2010 draft drastically changes the roster that Cowboys fans remember. Forget Dez Bryant and Sean Lee in this alternate reality; they both get picked in the first round, by the Raiders and Falcons respectively. Dallas instead takes wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders with their first-round selection. He originally went in the third round and actually outpaced Bryant in nearly every statistical category for receivers. Deion Sanders believes 'foolish' pre-draft reports caused Shedeur Sanders' draft slide :: Awful Announcing Link The always opinionated Cowboys legend discounted anonymous reports that said Shedeur was "unprepared" for pre-draft meetings and blamed them for his son's drop from first-round possibility to fifth-round selection. 'But the Bible says God uses the foolish things to confound the wise," Deion said. "There was some foolish stuff that went on, but that gave them something that they needed. Like that edge that Tom [Brady] had, it gave them the edge that you had, it gave them the edge that I have. Folks said we weren't gonna be nothing." Eagles OC Kevin Patullo has firm grasp of the bigger picture. Just ask Chan Gailey :: The Athletic Link Philadelphia's new offensive coordinator fought through some tough times with a bad and depleted team as a Kansas City staffer in 2008. But he also watched former Cowboys head coach Chan Gailey devise the pistol offense out of necessity. Gailey says the experience helped Patullo learn how to "take what we have and defeat what they have." Except now at 43, Patullo will have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL at his disposal. Dez Bryant makes statement on Pride Month

The post Dez Bryant makes statement on Pride Month appeared first on ClutchPoints. Former Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant knows a thing or two about shooting his mouth off. After all, it was Bryant who lashed out at Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones after a loss to the 49ers in late October. His gift for gab has gotten him into hot water again on Monday. Bryant took to social media to post puzzling remarks regarding the acknowledgment of Pride Month, per Josh Sanchez of Sports Illustrated. He took issue with the ML Football League, who posted on X acknowledging Pride Month and saying things such as 'Football is gay' and 'Football is for everyone.' 'These are wild statements to make,' Bryant posted on X. 'Excuse my silliness. I'm going to proudly tell my boys football is none of these things. I have nothing against Gays, but this is far from right.' He then followed up with a subsequent post that included much harsher commentary. 'It's gay players in the NFL, but forcing it in people's faces, especially children, can send the wrong message,' he said. 'Football is a real community, like the gay community. Imagine telling gays they have to advocate for straight people. They probably would have a problem.' Pride Month is a celebration of the history and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community. It is held in June to commemorate the historic Stonewall Riots on June 28, 1969, which marked the launch of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. The NFL has acknowledged Pride Month since 2017. However, this is not the first time Bryant has said something off-putting. During his tenure with the Cowboys, Bryant has become one of the most outspoken players. Often saying and doing things that have gotten him in hot water. In 2012, he was involved in a physical altercation with his mother, Angela, that was caught on tape by TMZ. She said he hit her with a baseball cap and tore her shirt as she was trying to break up a scuffle between Bryant and her brother. At one point, Bryant owned a capuchin monkey. That invoked the ire of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). He called former Cowboys teammate Sean Lee a 'snake' and called out the team's playcalling. Last November, Bryant trolled Jay Z after a Cowboys loss to the Washington Commanders. All of this came amid rumors that Jay-Z would become an owner of the Commanders. At virtually every turn, Bryant has something to say.

Dallas Cowboys hero Dez Bryant slams NFL as gay pride post resurfaces: 'This is far from right'

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has attacked the NFL after their 2021 pride post resurfaced over social media. The 30-second video, shared by the NFL in late June 2021, says: 'Football is gay. Football is lesbian. Football is beautiful. Football is queer. Fotball is transgender. Football is for everyone.' The four-year-old post also encourages followers to donate to the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention organization aimed at helping LGBTQ youth. Now, at the start of pride month this year, the post has recirculated around social media and was noticed by Bryant - who had no hesitancy in underlining how unimpressed he was. 'Football is gay Football is queer Football is transgender.. these are wild statements to my silliness,' he wrote on X. 'I'm going to proudly tell my boys football is none of these things. I have nothing against Gays but this is far from right.' Football is gay Football is queer Football is transgender.. these are wild statements to my silliness. I'm going to proudly tell my boys football is none of these things. I have nothing against Gays but this is far from right — Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) June 2, 2025 Bryant has three childen, two of which are boys. His comment inevitably came under scrutiny, with one fan saying that 'gay people are persecuted while straight folk are not.' The 36-year-old Bryant wrote back: 'People in general are being persecuted daily.' Another follower responded to Bryant and said: 'You're digging a deeper hole and making yourself sound ignorant bro. 'It's not forcing anything, they didn't make a 'GAY Commerical', the commerical doesn't JUST say gay things. Seems to me like YOUR focus is other places.' 'I don't have a problem with gays… I just stated my opinion,' Bryant said back, while in another post to a now-deleted comment, spoke about gay players in the NFL. 'It's gay players in the forcing it in people's send the wrong message... Football is a real community, like the gay community,' Bryant wrote. 'Imagine telling gays they have to advocate for straight probably would have a problem.' Bryant then sent another message addressing the backlash he provoked, saying: 'I hate social media at times because people post fake positive things all the time and get bothered whenever folks have a real conversation. 'It should be a written rule saying you can't have an opinion because people are sensitive and all social platforms should be used for marketing purposes only lol.. I bet the goofy fake woke people have the most skeletons in their closet.' Bryant spent seven years with the Cowboys, from 2010 until 2017. In 2018, he tore his Achilles two days after signing with the New Orleans Saints. In 2020, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens and made six appearances.

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Respect the star. That's the rule. Everyone learns it from the time they walk through the door to the time they travel through the exit. Ask Terrell Owens. He has drawn the adoration and disdain of the Dallas Cowboys faithful. He was once knocked off the star by George Teague after some questionable decision-making. He was forgiven and returned years later to serve America's Team proudly, as he wore that same star for three seasons. There's an old saying, 'Once a Raider, always a Raider.' There has never been a Dallas parallel, but the rules work similarly. Fans, media members, coaches, and players all take a gander from time to time to see what former Cowboys are doing. They'll be pleased to see that nine former players are one step closer to the NCAA's version of immortality. Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys. Dez Bryant, Dallas Former Dallas Cowboys Nominated for Induction Into the College Football Hall of Fame Jot the names down if you haven't already. Wide receivers Dez Bryant and Randall Cobb were mentioned alongside some of the best football players to ever put in work at the NCAA level. They join seven other Cowboys who have recently been informed of another honor. Per the National Football Foundation, former quarterback and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, quarterback Ryan Leaf, offensive lineman Flozell Adams, cornerback Terence Newman, defensive lineman Greg Ellis, and linebackers Ken Norton Jr. and Kevin Hardy have been nominated to potentially join the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame class. All are deserving, but it's likely that not all won't be named as finalists. While each resume speaks for itself, depending on who you are listening to or talking to, the most deserving members of the bunch may vary. Moore was a two-time Quarterback of the Year and two-time First-Team All-American. Leaf was a First-team All-American and Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year who won the Sammy Baugh Trophy. Adams, another First-team All-American (1997), won Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year and First-team All-Big Ten honors in 1997. Terence Newman is a member of the Kansas State Wildcats Hall of Fame. He also earned the Jim Thorpe Award, Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors, and a Unanimous All-American nod in 2002. Greg Ellis was a Consensus All-American in 1997, a Third-Team All-American in 1996, and a three-time First-Team All-ACC from 1995–97. Norton, who sadly is the linebackers coach for the hated Washington Commanders now, won an AP National Championship as a coach and First-team All-American honors and a First-team All-Pac-10 nod during his final season in 1987. That brings us to Kevin Hardy. He twice earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors (1994-95). He was also a Dick Butkus Award winner and Consensus All-American in 1995. Dez Bryant and Randall Cobb both played one of the glamour positions, wide receiver. The former is a member of the 88 club along with Drew Pearson, Michael Irvin, and CeeDee Lamb. Bryant cleaned up in 2008 by earning a Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year nod. He was also named First-Team All-Big 12 and a Consensus All-American. Cobb played one season in Dallas, but that was nine years after he won 2010 First-Team All-American honors and the second of two First-Team All-SEC nods. As mentioned earlier, arguments can be made for adding each of these extraordinary talents to the list of college football's immortals. Voting ends on Monday, July 1. The 2026 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class will be announced in January 2026.

Ex-NFL star Dez Bryant slams league's Pride Month messaging: 'Far from right'

Former NFL star Dez Bryant took issue with the league's message as it celebrated the start of Pride Month on Sunday. The NFL released a 30-second video telling its audience what "football is." The video showed the words, "Football is gay," "football is lesbian," "football is beautiful," "football is queer," "football is exciting," "football is transgender," "football is bisexual," "football is power," "football is American," "football is accepting," and "football is everything," among other messages in the clip. Bryant, who spent most of his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, expressed his frustration with the ad. "Football is gay. Football is queer. Football is transgender... these are wild statements to make... excuse my silliness," Bryant wrote on X. "I'm going to proudly tell my boys football is none of these things. I have nothing against Gays but this is far from right." Bryant's social media post sparked debate and he fiercely defended himself. "It's gay players in the NFL.. but forcing it in people's faces... especially children... can send the wrong message… Football is a real community, like the gay community. Imagine telling gays they have to advocate for straight people... they probably would have a problem," he added. Several NFL teams fired off messages for Pride Month on social media on Sunday. Celebrating Pride Month had been a contentious topic in sports over the last few years. The Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Flyers, Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays have been among the organizations involved in controversies over the topic.
