Dubai: Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) shattered previous records during its 118th open auction for exclusive vehicle number plates, held on Saturday evening, 26 April 2025, at the Grand Hyatt Dubai. The event generated a staggering Dh98.83 million, marking the highest revenue ever achieved in the history of RTA plate auctions. Leading the high-profile bids was the coveted plate number CC 22, which was sold for Dh8.35 million. It was followed by BB 20, which fetched Dh7.52 million, and BB 19, securing Dh6.68 million. Other notable sales included AA 707 at Dh3.31 million and AA 222 at Dh3.3 million. 90 premium numbers The auction featured 90 premium number plates across two- to five-digit combinations from 14 different codes, including AA, BB, CC, I, J, O, P, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z. While the total nominal value of the plates was Dh16.565 million, bidding enthusiasm drove the final figure nearly six times higher. This milestone event reinforces the enduring appeal and credibility of RTA's auction system — known for its transparency, equal opportunity, and symbolic value for plate collectors and enthusiasts alike. Bidders Bidders participated by registering via RTA's website, mobile app, or in person at Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha. To qualify, participants were required to hold a valid Dubai traffic file and submit a Dh25,000 security cheque, along with a non-refundable registration fee of Dh120. A 5% VAT was applicable on all sales.

The latest auction for exclusive number plates hosted by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) set an all-time record for generating the highest proceeds ever. The 118th open auction generated about Dh100 million on the evening of Saturday, April 26. Topping the bids was plate (CC 22), which fetched Dh8.35 million, followed by (BB 20), sold for Dh7.52 million, (BB 19), which brought in Dh6.68 million, (AA 707), exchanged for Dh3.31 million, and (AA 222), closing at Dh3.3 million. There were 90 exclusive vehicle number plates showcased at the auction. They were all in two, three, four, and five-digit configurations from codes AA, BB, CC, I, J, O, P, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z. Headline numbers included the super plates CC22, BB19, and BB20. While the nominal value of the plates stood at Dh16.565 million, the final tally surged to Dh98.83 million. The event was held at the Grand Hyatt Dubai. Interested bidders had to register through RTA's website, app, or by visiting Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha. All sales were subject to a five per cent VAT. To participate, bidders were required to hold a Dubai traffic file and submit a security deposit cheque of Dh25,000 made payable to RTA, along with a non-refundable registration fee of Dh120. Payments were also accepted via credit card through the website and mobile app.
