Nintendo fans say they'll 'spend life savings' on Switch 2 if one iconic game returns
Nintendo will bring out its Switch 2 console in June, but some fans have said they'll only think about buying the new device if the company brings back one iconic game
There are just two months left until the Nintendo Switch 2 is officially released, but some fans are still waiting for one iconic game to be announced. Nintendo confirmed plans for the successor to the Switch almost a month ago and announced a list of games that would be on the way in the coming months – including Mario Kart World.
With a spate of releases for the console having already been announced, a few Nintendo favourites haven't made the cut yet. But one new feature of the Nintendo Switch 2 has fans desperate for one iconic Nintendo title to make a much-needed comeback –Nintendogs.
Nintendogs was a real-time pet simulation game released for the Nintendo DS in 2005, where players could take care of and train their very own pet dog. There hasn't been an iteration of the game since 2011's Nintendogs + Cats for the 3DS console, and fans are desperate for a new title.
The upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch 2 has reignited calls for a new Nintendogs game because of one new feature of the console that could revolutionise the gameplay.
Although it doesn't come with the console as standard, the Switch 2 supports the use of a camera. The camera can be used to video chat with friends, but also supports a feature called CameraPlay, where you can see yourself in the game you're playing and can use full motion controls to interact with the game environment.
This feature has got people on social media clamouring for a new Nintendogs title, as CameraPlay support could mean you'd be able to simulate yourself actually petting the dogs instead of simply pressing a button on your controller.
In a TikTok video shared by a man named Dhean, he said: "Nintendo needs to bring back Nintendogs for the Switch 2. With the new camera, we can be in the game, interact with them, and pet the dogs.
"Then I realised they're releasing a new app you can use to interact with the games too. So, dog walks. I want my dogs from the game to be physically on the app on my phone so I can take them for walks. Give me the dogs, Nintendo!"
Commenters on Dhean's video even said that a new Nintendogs game would be "the only way" they would ever part with the cash needed to buy a Switch 2. One person even joked they'd spend their "life savings" on the console.
Someone wrote: "If they do this, I'm buying a Switch 2 ... that's the only way I'll buy one. I already have the first one, so I need something to justify buying a second one."
Another added: "If they release Nintendogs on the Switch 2 and we can properly interact with them, I'm definitely getting a Switch 2 just for that."
Nintendogs isn't the only game that people want to see announced for the Switch 2. Fans were previously outraged when no Animal Crossing game was confirmed for the console, and no plans were announced for a mainline Legend of Zelda title. However, fans of Zelda will get to play a new Hyrule Warriors game when Age of Imprisonment comes out "this winter".
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on June 5th and will cost £395.99 to buy in the UK.
