UAE moon sighting committee to meet today
The UAE moon-sighting committee will meet on Tuesday, May 27 (Dhul-Qa'dah 29 1446 AH), at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi to observe the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah. The crescent marks the start of Eid Al Adah. The meeting will be chaired by Shaykh Abdullah bin Al Shaykh Al-Mahfouz bin Bayyah, Chairman of the UAE Council for Fatwa, along with participation from leading scholars and experts in astronomy. The committee will review scientific data and detailed reports from relevant agencies regarding the astronomical calculations for the crescent sighting. Observations will be assessed after sunset on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the UAE Council for Fatwa has called on specialists, experts, and the public to observe the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah after sunset on Tuesday.

26 May 2025 22:25 ABU DHABI (WAM)The UAE Council for Fatwa will hold its meeting for Dhul-Hijjah moon sighting for the year 1446 on the evening of Tuesday, May 27, 2025 - corresponding to 29 Dhul-Qa'dah,1446 AH - at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu meeting is held in line with the committee's national duties and meeting will be chaired by scholar Shaykh Abdullah bin Al Shaykh Al-Mahfouz bin Bayyah, Chairman of the UAE Council for Fatwa, with the attendance of Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Darei, Vice Chairman of the Council, along with members who are experts in the fields of Islamic jurisprudence, legal studies, and the meeting, the committee will review scientific data and precise reports from relevant agencies and institutions regarding astronomical calculations for the birth of the crescent, the occurrence of conjunction, and the feasibility of sighting the moon. This includes analysing the results from various national observatories, equipped with the latest advanced technologies and smart instruments, after sunset on Tuesday. In the meantime, the UAE Council for Fatwa has urged specialists, experts, traditional moon-sighters, and members of the public—both citizens and residents—to look for the crescent of the month of Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH after sunset on Tuesday, 29 Dhul-Qa'dah, corresponding to May 27, 2025.

Saudi Arabia suspends issuance of Umrah permits ahead of Hajj
Gulf Today Report Saudi Arabia will suspend the issuance of Umrah permits via the Nusuk platform for citizens, residents, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals starting on Tuesday, as part of preparations for the upcoming Hajj season, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced on Sunday. The suspension will take effect from April 29, 2025 (1 Dhul-Qa'dah 1446 AH), and will continue until June 10, 2025 (14 Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH). The move aims to ensure the smooth organisation of Hajj and safeguard the safety of pilgrims during the peak period. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah also confirmed that access to the Holy City of Makkah has been restricted since April 23, requiring an official permit issued through the Absher or Muqeem platforms. Only Hajj workers, Makkah residents, and individuals holding valid Hajj permits are allowed entry. From April 29 onwards, anyone without a Hajj visa will be barred from entering or staying in Makkah, with violators facing legal penalties, the ministry warned. This year's Hajj is expected to begin around on June 6, 2025, depending on the moon sighting.

Standard Shifting: Budget-friendly stays alternating between 3- and 4-star hotels and campsites. Premium: 10 days in 4-star hotels with organised access to religious sites. Premium Shifting: A 14-day option combining elevated services with flexibility in accommodation. Luxury: A 10-day exclusive experience in 5-star hotels with premium access to rituals. Luxury Shifting: 14 days moving between top-tier accommodations for added comfort and mobility. The measures underline Saudi Arabia's efforts to manage the expected large influx of worshippers and to ensure the successful execution of Hajj 2025.
