But little did she know when her character is caught kissing David backstage at the Christmas Nativity, Rylan was there to see the whole thing. 'I was in Love Actually,' he revealed, as Martine gasped: 'Shut the front door!' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Rylan confirmed: 'I was a school kid. At Hill Top, I think the school was called. I had to take four days off school and get it signed off. 'I had to learn Catch A Falling Star to sing it for the scene.' Martine asked: 'So you saw when I kissed Hugh?' with Rylan confirming that he was there for the scene. Elsewhere, Rylan is reportedly having another shot at singing and is flying to Los Angeles to record in a studio with a successful songwriter. His music career sadly faltered in its early days when his run on The X Factor ended with an early elimination during the 2012 series. But he took a break from his successful radio and TV career last month to head to California to work with music icon Diane Warren, according to The Sun. Diane has been behind a string of huge hits including I Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith, Cher 's If I Could Turn Back Time and Rhythm Of The Night by DeBarge. Rylan now looks set to join the prestigious list of greats who have worked with Diane, from Beyonce and Taylor Swift to Britney Spears and Whitney Houston. An industry insider told The Sun of his new project: 'His first love has always been music. 'He has been writing songs for years, so when the chance for him to get into a studio with Diane came up he couldn't say no. 'He was out in Los Angeles for four days and they had a great time together.' Last year, Rylan revealed that he had been secretly writing music under a pseudonym.

Los Angeles Zoo elephants Billy and Tina have been relocated to Tulsa Zoo after controversy over their move

The last two Asian elephants at the Los Angeles Zoo, Billy and Tina, have officially been relocated to the Tulsa Zoo. Their move comes after years of scrutiny of the LA Zoo for the elephant exhibit. Animal advocates have alleged that Billy and Tina's enclosure was too small, the animals were suffering and their health was declining. The LA Zoo has denied all allegations, saying the pair were getting excellent care. "Billy and Tina, the Los Angeles Zoo Asian elephants, have arrived safely at the Tulsa Zoo. Although they will be missed, we are grateful for the outpouring of support from our members, volunteers, staff, and the more than 1.5 million guests who visit the Los Angeles Zoo annually," the LA Zoo said in a statement. For years, advocates have been fighting for these two to be sent to a sanctuary, but the city and the zoo went a different route. Last month, the LA Zoo announced that Billy and Tina would be moving to an Elephant Experience and Preserve in Tulsa. Billy and Tina, 40 and 59, have called Los Angeles home for decades. But on Tuesday, zoo-goers noticed their enclosure was empty, sparking concern they had been relocated to Tulsa. SkyCal also flew over the enclosure and no animals could be seen. The announcement to move the elephants to Tulsa prompted opposition, including a lawsuit, protests, and even celebrity involvement. Cher, Diane Warren, and Justin Theroux all signed a letter to Mayor Karen Bass, urging her to let the elephants retire in peace at a sanctuary, not another zoo. Just last week, a judge declined to issue a temporary block on the move. The LA Zoo said it evaluated all other options for Billy and Tina, including AZA-accredited sanctuaries. The zoo said members of the staff traveled with the elephant to Tulsa and will assist in their transition to their new home. Currently, the facility at the Tulsa Zoo is home to five Asian elephants. It covers 17 acres of land, including a wooded elephant preserve and a 36,000+ square-foot elephant barn. "Billy and Tina will spend the next several weeks building bonds with their new care team and meeting our herd after the standard quarantine period," a statement from the Tulsa Zoo said. Jewel, a 61-year-old female, died in 2023 and Shaunzi, a 53-year-old female, died the following year. Both deaths were met by protests outside of the zoo from animal rights activists calling for the remaining elephants' release due to "unnatural and neglectful conditions and confinement," demonstrators said at the time. CBS News Los Angeles has reached out to the mayor's office, but has not received a response.

Rylan Clark is set to return to the music industry as he 'flies to LA studio to record with legendary songwriter' - 13 years after his stint on The X Factor

His music career sadly faltered in its early days when his run on The X Factor ended with an early elimination. But 13 years later, Rylan Clark is reportedly having another shot at singing and is flying to Los Angeles to record in a studio with a successful songwriter. The star, 36, took a break from his successful radio and TV career last month to head to California to work with music icon Diane Warren, according to The Sun. He said: 'I write music. So I've done quite a lot of songs. Some have been released, but not under "Rylan" and they've done well, which is fun. 'I've released a couple of tracks that I'm happy with.' The star appeared on the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012, sporting blonde hair during the auditions which are a sharp contrast to his slick black locks these days. Rylan's foray into the music world comes after he gave his fans a glimpse at his natural hair colour in a YouTube vlog as he filmed himself between touch-ups. The TV presenter has been dying his reddish-brown locks and beard a darker shade for years and rarely shows his natural colour. However, in a video clip of him speaking to his beloved mum Linda from Panama, his roots could be seen to be growing back in, revealing a gingery tint to his sideburn. In what appeared to an attempt to hide his non-dyed tresses, Rylan wore a black baseball cap. The star previously revealed he is open to getting more cosmetic procedures, despite admitting he has gone 'too far' with tweakments in the past. The bubbly presenter has been open in the past about what work he's had done, previously admitting he spent £25,000 on veneers in 2013. He has also had lip filler, Botox and underwent another procedure for his teeth so they would look more natural. Appearing on the cover of July/August issue Attitude magazine to celebrate Pride month, he acknowledged he had gone a bit overboard with getting work done, but added he never had any regrets because he saw it all as a learning curve. Rylan explained: 'I don't regret anything I've done. I'll probably still have more things done. 'I think if you're in a position where you want to change something, and you think it will make you feel better, and you can do that, then do it. I don't think you should be judged for that. 'Do I think sometimes in the past I've gone a bit too far? Yeah. Do I realise now that I don't have to go as far as that? Yeah, so, I don't.'

Oscars Rule Change: Members Must See All Nominees Before Voting

Following the lead of rules for the voting membership of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, aka the BAFTAs, AMPAS members must see all of the films in the category before casting their votes, according to The Hollywood Reporter. THR said in a report on Monday that the membership seeing all of the nominees 'has become more of a concern for the Academy in recent years since the organization massively expanded its membership and brought in a lot of younger members who are busier with their careers.' Prior to the rule change, THR reported, AMPAS allowed votes to be cast through an honor system. Now, however, members casting votes in particular categories must provide 'anecdotal evidence' before accessing votes in the Academy's e-ballot system. THR said the evidence that a member has viewed a nominee can be tracked by AMPAS by checking their use of the Academy's screening app. If the voting member sees the film at an awards screening or film festival, they will have to verify it by filling out a form to validate what they've seen and when. Oscar ballots going forward will now list the composer of the song next to the name of the song, which hasn't been done in the past, THR reported. As such, the trade publication suggested, prolific composer Diane Warren — who has lost all 16 times she's been nominated for Best Original Song — might have received more support in the past had they known that she composed a nominated song. At current, the only individuals listed next to their nominated film on the ballot are actors, THR said. Other changes, according to the trade publication, include allowing filmmakers with refugee or asylum status to be considered for Best International Feature from the country they fled from instead of requiring residence in the country to submit their film. In addition, AMPAS is tackling the AI controversy that emerged last awards season following revelations that AI was used to aid certain audio aspects of The Brutalist and Emilia Pérez. Both films earned several Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. The Academy's Science and Technology Council addressed the concern over AI in a statement (via THR) that reads, 'With regard to Generative Artificial Intelligence and other digital tools used in the making of the film, the tools neither help nor harm the chances of achieving a nomination. The Academy and each branch will judge the achievement, taking into account the degree to which a human was at the heart of the creative authorship when choosing which movie to award.' Shortlist rules were also announced for the Best Cinematography and new Best Casting category on Monday, and the rules listing of nominated producers in the Best Picture category has been more refined, THR reported. Several key dates for the 98th Oscars were announced on Monday. The nominations will be unveiled on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, while the 98th Oscars ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 15.
